Location: 32.221360, 51.901322 This old agricultural strip appears to have served as a forward recovery point during last night’s operation to extract the second crewman from the downed F-15E deep inside Iran. By that stage, the first crew member had already been recovered in daylight. The second extraction was the more complex phase: it involved dozens of aircraft and specialized rescue teams, while the wounded airman was pulled out from mountainous terrain after nearly two days behind Iranian lines. Reuters also reported that the mission was supported by Israeli intelligence and a CIA deception effort to mislead Iranian forces during the search. During the exfiltration, two MC-130J special operations aircraft were destroyed on the ground after becoming compromised or unusable, underscoring how risky the recovery was.
