When Charles Barkley was 54, he told TNT he planned to retire at age 60, but he remained with TNT for 2 more years with them, so they could get a new NBA deal, but they failed to do so. Charles on retiring: “Me and Ernie are a package deal, so right now, unless Ernie changes his mind, next year is my last year 100 percent (On Inside The NBA).” He'll retire once Ernie does. He mentioned that he stayed because he has known the people in the studio for 26-27 years, and he didn't want them to lose their jobs, as he felt connected to them after so many years.
