At our hearts, we are seekers, and today we celebrate a scientific milestone! Nearly 30 years after the first discovery of a world orbiting a Sun-like star beyond our solar system, NASA’s Exoplanet Archive reached 6,000 confirmed exoplanets. 🎉 Read more:

Are we alone? To find out, we’re building the Habitable Worlds Observatory. This powerful space telescope uses proven technologies from Hubble, NASA Webb Telescope, and Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope to look for signatures of planets that can support life — and maybe life itself.

Astronomers used the XRISM telescope — a partnership between JAXA(Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) and NASA with @ESA participation — to measure sulfur within our galaxy. They "X-rayed" clouds of gas and dust using bright sources behind them, finding sulfur in gas and solid forms:

Are these images fireworks … or star clusters in space? These space images resemble fireworks because star clusters are groups of stars that share an origin, forming at roughly the same time and location, and are tied together by gravity for millions or even billions of years.

Wonder what puts the “super” in supermassive black holes? Check out this animation that compares the sizes of 10 supersized black holes in our universe, including Sagittarius A* in our Milky Way ... which isn't even close to the biggest! We’ve included our solar system for scale, so you can see how big these black holes are! But this doesn’t represent their real locations — nearly all of these black holes are in other galaxies far, far away. #BlackHoleWeek

Our NICER telescope on the International Space Station is studying mysterious events called quasi-periodic eruptions, or QPEs. These repeating X-ray flares happen near the central black holes in some galaxies. QPEs in a system nicknamed Ansky are the most energetic and longest yet discovered!
