Brendan Haywood says offensive identity has left the league: “I call a lot of college basketball last year, and I do pro. And the one difference I see is offense identity. If you watch a college game, Duke don’t play like Carolina, Carolina don’t play like Michigan, Michigan don’t play like Nebraska or whoever, or Kansas, right? But when you watch a NBA game everybody plays the same but it didn’t used to be like that. Because when we came in the league the Nets was running the Princeton, the Lakers were running the triangle then you had Sacramento running the high post offense with Vlade and them boys. Golden State run and gun, low post offense, cross screens. Everybody played to their strengths because they said this is what we do. Then you know what happened everybody came in with the IPads and everything else and analytics, and they said, “Hey, we want to be pace and space and shoot threes mid pick and roll spread game the whole NBA plays like that.” You watch every NBA game now a days you see the same offense it is hard to tell each teams identity when you all play the same style.

Gilbert Arenas on Tracy McGrady comments saying MVP holds more weight than a championship: “I would rather be a top 10 player in the entire league than be a rotational player winning a championship. I don’t want a project A, I want to be the A student getting the A, I don’t want to be we got a C student and got a project A.”

Draymond Green on Joe Johnson comments about Amen Thompson getting paid $200 million with no jump shot: “I do think number one, you get paid for what you’ve done. I think there’s always this idea of you get paid for what you’re going to become. No, no. In this league you get paid for what you you’ve done. Amen Thompson has put together a body of work that says if you want to keep me, this is going to be the going rate. Now, yes, he needs to improve. But on the flip side, I do get a little frustrated sometimes when people come out like, “Yo, this guy can just gain a jump shot.” Like, yo, jump shooting is a skill. Yes, you can work, work, and work to better that skill, but we’re not going to ask Steph Curry to go be Amen Thompson athletically. So, if we’re not going to do that, then let’s not always point to when it’s shooting for a guy, oh man, he need to like, yes, he do. I agree with that. But let’s also know he is elite at jumping. He’s an elite defender. Getting from point A to point B, elite.” (Via The Draymond Green Show)

Stephen A. Smith says where the hell the Los Angeles Lakers think they going with a bunch of white dudes: “SOMEBODY HAD TO SAY IT. SO I’m saying it. Your three TOP PLAYERS ARE WHITE DUDES. REALLY? This ain’t golf. This ain’t baseball. Hell, it ain’t even soccer. And we got a whole bunch of brothers ON TEAM USA. WHAT Y’ALL THINK THIS IS? IT’S BASKETBALL.” (Via Stephen A Smith)

Charles Barkley doesn’t agree with the narrative LeBron is beating Father Time 👀 “We have to be honest about LeBron. Just because you’re putting up good numbers don’t mean you’re being affective. — People say he’s defying the odds but if my memory serves me correctly, he’s gotten swept in the playoffs the last couple of years. — LeBron is playing well but to say he’s beating Father Time, they got swept the last two years in the playoffs so don’t tell me how great he’s playing” (Via Bill Simmons podcast)

Kevin Durant on the narrative that international players are taking over the NBA 👀 “It’s about time. They been coming into the league since the 80s… The real arguments should be who are they influenced by? Most of these dudes are influenced by who? Americans. It’s cool getting MVPs and stuff but who did you watch? You see Jokic, Porzingis, Shai, all these dudes with Iverson jerseys coming up…. They trynna play like us too. You look at Shai, is he an international player? His pipeline for being a NBA player came from the American system. Where’d he go to college? Where’d he go to high school?” (Via Boardroom)

Anthony Edwards on Wemby getting ejected 💀 “That n***a is like 8’5 when he spread out. The rim ain’t nothing but 10 feet! You got to put that b*tch so high above the rim. He’s like a statue. It’s so hard to beat them when he’s on the floor just because of his defense. I was so happy that n***a got kicked out. I hope they suspend him. Imma email the ass right now!” (Via

Draymond Green on Yaxel Lendeborg pitch to LeBron James to join Golden State: “Is the pitch too weak or too strong? I don’t know. I think the pitch is pointless, you know. But it’s fine. Training camp is coming soon enough and you know, got to rain the rookie in a little bit. You know, teach him a few things. Training camp’s coming soon enough. Yeah, it’s training camp will be here pretty soon. And I think you all know why I’m hitting at training camp. And yeah, it’ll get here soon enough, Yax. Enjoy all your media.” (Via The Draymond Green Show)

Anthony Edwards explains why he dapped up the Spurs with 8 minutes left: “Yeah it’s 8 minutes but we not going back in the game. When you win a playoff series everybody is celebrating at the end of the game. They’ll be smiling while I’m pissed off. I was like ‘let me go ahead and congratulate these boys because I’m not going to be laughing with y’all after you whooped my ass.’ I didn’t want to go dal them n***** up at all. But then what would they have said About me? That’s why I’m me and y’all are whoever y’all are.” (Via

Rich Paul believes LeBron James beating the Rockets last year without Luka is what led him not to retire 😳 “That series in my opinion, convinced him to keep playing. I truly believe that. I think if they somehow got swept or lose 4-1 in that series, it could be different. I think that gave us another ride.” (Via Game Over)

Nick Wright on the debate if LeBron James tenure in LA was a success: “LeBron the record is 8 years with the Lakers, 7 trips to the playoffs. 2 seasons where they made a conference finals and 1 championship. And you’re going to have folks today earnestly genuinely try to argue that LeBron Lakers tenure was a failure. To which I would simply say or ask and don’t even add I’m not even asking you to add any age related qualifiers to it. Has Giannis 13 year Bucks career been a failure? Because in those 13 years, Giannis has 1 trip to the finals, 1 championship, and 1 trip to another conference finals and that’s the exact same thing as Bron in his 8 with the Lakers.” (Via What’s Wright? with Nick Wright)

Draymond Green on people saying the Jaylen Brown trade was a even swap: “No disrespect to Paul George, but this isn’t an even swap. I got a lot of love for PG. but like myself, PG is 36 years old. Not like myself. I’m going into year 15. I think PG is going into year 17. And Jaylen Brown, not even 30 years old. He’s 29 years old and he’s going into year 11. So, and by the way, he won finals MVP two years ago. I think he just made All-NBA second team this year. Was arguably controversially possibly could have been a first team performer, but the votes are what they are. So it’s not an even swap. Like when you’re talking just player for player, it’s not.” (Via The Draymond Green Show)

Brian Windhorst on Charles Barkley comments saying LeBron James stacks every team he goes to: “Where does Charles and the legends want LeBron to go? Do they want him to go to the G League? Because if he went to Cleveland is that team stacked? Is Miami with Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo is that team stacked? Jokic and Jamal Murray is that team stacked? Ant Edwards, Rudy Gobert I don’t know he left Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves is that not? I don’t understand the premise of the complaint.”

Pablo Torre says there’s no way Kawhi Leonard didn’t know what was going on: “I’m a big fan of treating adults like adults. Kawhi Leonard is 35 years old and we have documents, Aspiration contract, in fact, $28 million contract in which his signature is on it. We have the money flows. We have him actually in the NBA report, by the way, specifically. This not Dennis Robertson. This is Mr. Leonard in the report requesting that aspiration flip how they were going to pay him. They initially were like, “We’re going to give you the seven a year in stock and the four and the five a year in salary.” (Via Stephen A Smith)

Charles Barkley says LeBron James always stacks his team after going to Philly: “The number one knock on LeBron for older guys like myself has always been, “Yo, man, you always stacking your team.” He stacked in Miami. He stacked in Cleveland. He stacked in LA. Now he’s stacking it in Philly. So that to me, I’m going to still have the same criticism I’ve always had.” (Via Stephen A Smith)

Stephen A Smith sends a warning shot at Jaylen Brown after his ‘f*ck Stephen A’ comments 👀 “Jaylen Brown be careful what you wish for. You really want me to start reporting on that level? You understand? Locker room, how the organization might think about you, how the city may feel about you, how Jayson Tatum may or may not feel about you, sneaker deals, endorsement deals, the list goes on and on. The season is over bro. You’re on twitch trying to do what I do”

Jayson Tatum on Jaylen Brown getting traded: "To be transparent, it's weird.... You understand throughout the course of your career that the NBA is a business and people change teams... but it doesn't make it any easier. It's still a human element of it.. But it's also a side you have to welcome our new teammates"

Bob Myers on how the Jaylen Brown trade went down to get him to Philadelphia: “Jaylen Brown was not like we lost the Knicks and we’re going to go get Jaylen Brown. Like that’s not what happened. It just that’s not what happend. Then you start hearing there was a possibility and the job then became is this a real thing with Jaylen Brown. Is it a real thing? And you know, I think Brad Stevens is one of the most straight shooters in the league. So when you work in the NBA as an executive you ultimately usually have at least one or two I don’t want to say transactions with every other GM. So, you know, if I call Trace, hey, you want to make a deal? He might be like, “Yeah, yeah, yeah.” And then he doesn’t I mean, it’s like I know you’re not this way, but you have to understand like he’s honest or he might tell me what I want to hear or he might lie to me. This dude just might lie. He lied to me two years ago. He’s going to lie to me again. That’s not Brad Stevens. So, when Brad Stevens responded with, “What are you offering?” Then you knew that there was a shot.” (Via Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady)

Olden Polynice GOES OFF on Tracy McGrady for his MVP over rings argument 👀 “T-Mac I’ve never read your book, Things Losers Say. Because that’s what it is. I’m sick and tired. And see, all these young people keep saying these old heads, they do this and do that. It’s not the old heads. Most of us know what we’re talking about. And we come from a point of reference where we try to keep it civil. You guys are just blurring out crap. Y’all just blurring out sh*t. Or, you know, if I had been on the Lakers, I would have won more championships than Kobe. Sh*t like that. Stop it dude. Okay. Championships matter. We don’t know who the 12th man is, but guess what? Jack Haley had three rings and he can carry that ring anywhere and show it and get stuff from it. Nobody gives damn about no damn MVPs.” (Via Byron Scott’s Fast Break)
