While the Financial District is now the epicenter of corporate America, it was once home to the first Middle Eastern immigrant neighborhood in the U.S., from the late 1880s until the 1940s, known as Little Syria. Now, only three buildings from the era remain, but tour guide and historian Asad Dandia (Asad🗽🍎) brings it back to life, showing where the tenement buildings, commuter railways, old Sahadi’s, and more once stood.

'Death of a Salesman' star Nathan Lane accepted the Tony Award for Best Play. The honor is often accepted by the show's lead producer, which would've marked producer Scott Rudin's return to the Tonys stage, but Lane instead accepted, never mentioning Rudin by name.

Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue is home to a number of long-standing Middle Eastern pastry and grocery shops, many of which were established in the early- and mid-20th century. Among them are Oriental Pastry & Grocery and Damascus Bread & Pastry Shop, which sit across from each other on the same block. Ghiath Moustapha, who goes by Gary, has owned and operated Oriental since 1967, while Tony Sadek has been running Damascus since 1997. We spent time with both store owners as they shared what it’s been like to work at their stores for many decades and witness the transformation of their neighborhood.

Unfortunately, the story of Team USA at the Winter Olympics is not just cool-girl figure skaters and athletes speaking out against what’s happening back home. There is also the men’s hockey team, every member of which seemed very happy to party with FBI Director Kash Patel and get a phone call from President Donald Trump after its gold medal-winning game on Sunday. After defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime, Team USA went back to the locker room to drink beer and yell about its victory. Joining it, for some reason, was Patel. It would be one thing if Patel — who has beaten some stiff competition to become the lamest member of the Trump administration — invited himself in. However, after getting roasted for looking dorky in the locker room video, Patel clarified on X that he was “invited” to the celebration by his “friends” on Team USA. (Why Patel uses the white fist-bump emoji is a question for another day.) Read the full story:

Not since the co-creator of the Minions disavowed their history have we had a despicable scandal like this. The Spanish figure skater Tomàs-Llorenç Guarino Sabaté, who’s set to compete at the 2026 Winter Olympics, will now be allowed to perform his Minion short-form routine after an initial copyright denial. Guarino Sabaté had been using the song for the entirety of the international skating season — music of which he said was chosen to “bring joy and a playful style to the ice while still meeting every required element to show that skating as a male Olympic figure skater can be fun.” In his celebratory update, the six-time Spanish national champion credited those who “reposted, shared, and supported” his routine for moving the needle on Universal’s reversal, although he’s still waiting on two other musical elements to be cleared.
