A paper in Nature demonstrates a four-legged robot that is able to complete a marathon on a single battery charge. The robot exhibited three times the travel range per charge of existing robots.

A paper in Nature Neuroscience describes a single brain implant that can simultaneously decode speech and gestures in people with paralysis.

A paper in Nature Communications presents a fully integrated smart ring that measures multiple chemical biomarkers from osmotically extracted sweat without iontophoresis, validated for daily analysis in both healthy and type 1 diabetic individuals.

A paper in Nature Communications presents a wearable diving suit that enables terrestrial cyborg cockroaches to maintain respiration and locomotion underwater for up to 3 hours.

A neuroprosthetic system has helped a man with paralysis to move his hand and feel touch again following a spinal cord injury, according to research in Nature Medicine.

A paper in Nature Medicine presents an intracortical brain–computer interface (BCI) that enables long-term, independent speech-based communication and computer use in an individual with severe paralysis.

A paper in Nature describes an AI-based robotic system capable of outperforming elite table tennis players, developed by Sony AI.

A paper in Nature Neuroscience describes a system that uses brain signals in real time to identify the voice a listener is focusing on and selectively amplifies it among a group of different speakers.

A paper in Nature Communications describes a detachable robotic hand that can crawl and grab objects. The design enables tasks such as retrieving objects beyond normal reach and performing multi-object handling.

A paper in Nature Communications presents a bio-inspired robot that has been used to illustrate the mechanism by which some species of fish are able to walk on land. This may provide insights into how the first terrestrial vertebrates moved onto land.

A paper in Nature Neuroscience presents a device capable of translating activity in the brain during attempted keyboard typing into typed text.

A paper in nature presents a brain–computer interface that helped a patient with ALS to communicate at an average rate of 62 words per minute, which is 3.4 times as fast as the previous record and moves closer to the speed of natural conversation.

A paper in nature suggests that bumblebees can teach others new behaviours too complex for them to learn alone. In the study, a bee taught to solve a puzzle for a sugary reward can go on to train other bees to complete the task.

Thanks to a complex mathematical algorithm, these plastic shapes follow a very specific route as they roll. In fact, researchers have shown that a shape can be designed to follow almost any path you can think of. Read the associated nature paper: 🔒

A nature paper presents a system of construction that may prevent the collapse of an entire building by ensuring that structural failure is localized to the damaged area. The approach is inspired by lizards’ ability to shed their tail to escape predators.

A nature paper demonstrates an implant that restores communication between the brain and spinal cord that helps a patient with paralysis of the arms and legs to stand and walk naturally.

A paper in Nature Neuroscience presents a new device capable of translating speech activity in the brain into spoken words in real-time. This technology could help people with speech loss to regain their ability to communicate more fluently in real time.

A study in Nature Electronics uses customizable fibre networks to create on-skin electrodes that can record electrocardiogram and electromyography signals, skin-gated organic electrochemical transistors and augmented touch and plant interfaces.
