HAPPENING: The Banyamulenge community in #Rwanda gather at Camp Kigali to commemorate more than 160 victims of the 2004 Gatumba massacre, which took place on the night of August 13, 2004, at a UNHCR transit camp in Gatumba, Burundi. • The 22nd commemoration is being held under the theme, “Remember, Seek Justice, and Condemn Genocide Ideology in the DRC.” • Banyamulenge refugees, including women and children, were killed and dozens were wounded when armed attackers stormed the camp and set shelters on fire. • The PALIPEHUTU-FNL, a Burundian rebel group, claimed responsibility for the attack.
