Today, we announced a new €13 billion commitment to Finland’s digital and clean energy infrastructure over the next two years — our largest single investment in Europe to date. Building on 15+ years in Finland, this investment will expand our presence in Hamina and establish new infrastructure in Kajaani, Muhos, and Vaala. During construction, the project is projected to contribute an annual average of €3.6 billion to Finland’s GDP and support over 37,000 jobs nationwide.

This summer, our teams in London will move into our new workspace, Platform 37. The office will also include a new public space dedicated to deepening understanding of artificial intelligence. The name is a nod to “Move 37,” a pivotal play made by Google DeepMind’s AlphaGo AI system in a now legendary 2016 match against Go world champion Lee Sae Dol. The unconventional move set AlphaGo up to win — and the victory heralded the beginning of what is now recognized as the modern era in AI.
