Immigrants will be required to have lived in Ireland for eight years before they can apply for Irish citizenship, Taoiseach Micheál Martin has confirmed. The new rule will form part of a package of measures that will toughen up the migration system and make Irish citizenship notably harder to obtain than it is at present. The full details of Sunday morning's M9 crash are still to emerge, however, it has been confirmed that five teenagers in a BMW, who were going southbound on a northbound carriage, have all died, while the three women and a child in the second car are all in hospital with serious injuries. "Initially it was thought there were only four teenagers in the BMW, and that it was only later that a fifth body was found, which just really illustrates just the pure, just the horrific carnage of this." With TikTok refusing to go before the Oireachtas, is it time for a ban to be considered at EU level? It has been revealed that 16-year-old Bryan Lowe, who was killed in a hit and run on Friday night, had apparently sent a text message 'in the immediate minutes preceding' the incident, 'saying he thought he was being followed.' Bryan Lowe was riding an e-bike when he was hit in Clonlara, on the Limerick-Clare border, on Friday evening. Gardaí are hoping to speak to the driver of a silver-gold coloured Skoda Octavia, which was seen around the Clonlara and Castle Connell areas on Friday evening and on Saturday morning.
