![I asked Angel to walk me through what goes through her mind during defensive possessions and the level of tenacity she brings on the opposite end. Here’s what the 2026 Kia WNBA Defensive POY had to say: “It’s the mindset of being able to do the things that not a lot of people want to do. Like be able to sit down and guard somebody, and give them hell every single night is the mindset. Like when I was at USA Basketball, I was joking with Kara [Lawson]. Like, I want somebody to say, "Damn, Angel is guarding me tonight.” Like, it's gonna be hell. It's gonna be hell for 40 minutes, and I'm not gonna give that up.”](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2106475729831801184/amplify_video_thumb/2106475632196542464/img/FgCGgLw71eGgoFmb.jpg)

In last night’s win over the Mystics, the Dream made a huge momentum shift in the second half to pull away from Washington. I asked what the locker room message was at halftime for Atlanta to regain control: “Everybody take a deep breath. We’ll be fine.” -DeWanna Bonner #WNBA

Angel shares her thoughts on Atlanta’s free throw shooting this afternoon: “If it's shooting 100 free throws after practice, 50 free throws after practice, that's what it is, but we haven't shot great, not just from the free throw line for our field goals, too.” Question by The Crush Sports Network

The energy in today’s practice was electric. I asked Angel her thoughts on today — playing alongside Rhyne, Jordin, & Allisha. One thing that stood out to me in her response is that she told Rhyne Howard, who made the 2025 WNBA All-Defensive Second Team: “I told Rhy that I want to get on that defensive team.” Listen to her full response below ⬇️
