#AquaAction* is the most extreme, action-packed, innovative, totally original stage production in the cruise industry, if not the entire world. (…even if I do say so myself 😇). It delivers a unique visual and emotional experience with a long list of world firsts, all of which are combined to create entertainment history… Here is a list of fifteen firsts: 1). First “petal leaf” parabolic projection screen system. 2). First fully independent, all-degrees-of-freedom, double 3D dynamic aerial flying system. 3). First ever aerial “Pas De Deux”*. 4). First ever use of a deployable, self-tensioning slack line system. (Patent # US 12,251,615 B2)*. 5). First use of pure robotics in theater*. 6). First use of robotics to construct stage equipment in real-time*. 7). First appearance and use of Robolights™️* 8). First appearance and/or use of Robodives™️* 9). First appearance and/or use of a Roboramp™️*. 10). First appearance of skateboards in a theatrical production at sea.* 11). First 18-meter-high dive from the apex of a free-standing dome. 12). First ever appearance and/or use of a “Wheel of Death” apparatus in an Aquashow*. (Wheel of Wow). 13). First ever appearance and/or use of a “Wheel of Death” apparatus on a cruise ship, at sea*. 14). First ever appearance of the “Aqua Balancing” number* (and AB performer). 15). First use of a Pixel Fall on a cruise ship. This project took six years from a blank page on my desk to the opening night, and it was worth every minute. Here is the original mini-documentary (webisode) all about the madcap comedy musical - “Columbus: The Musical!” This was the first really BIG and original mega-production that I delivered for Royal Caribbean with a completely original concept, storyline, and design. Everybody that worked on this show brought their A-game, and the result was an instant hit that to this day is many people’s favorite show across the entire fleet. This short film includes interviews with two of the original lead actors and an excellent story summary by Ken Rush, who sums things up perfectly. Also, for the super-fans, some video clips of the #FlyingSharks. 🦈🪽🪽 Next year will be the ten-year anniversary of this iconic Royal hit. – I included a couple of photos of the original “Black Shirt” team, (without whom this epic and first-of-its-kind production would simply never have happened), also the relevant pages from the original playbill that was given to guests during #HarmonyoftheSeas’ inaugural cruises.)
