When Buhari got the ticket, there was an issue with campaign funding, and Buhari was not a money person. So Timipre Sylva and I went to see one of the big-time rich people and held the meeting on his yacht because the man didn't want to be seen with Buhari's people. After the meeting, he agreed to support Buhari with funds, but while coming out of the yacht, a police officer saw us. Timipre was worried that the meeting would get to Jonathan’s ears, and it did. The man was summoned to Abuja and threatened, and that was how we lost that funding. That was when we went to Tinubu and explained the issue to him. Through him, we raised sufficient funds to run Buhari's campaign. Not only that, Osinbajo ran a separate campaign from Buhari, and it was also funded by Tinubu. Bola also hired consultants from America who were doing professional work on Buhari's image. They were the same people who ran Obama's campaign, and I know that cost him over N2 billion. Whenever there was a need for expenditure, he didn't go to the campaign purse. He spent from his own purse. - Former SGF Babachir Lawal

President Tinubu has 34 and a half governors. The only governor that is not with him is Governor Seyi Makinde. Alex Otti is there...forget about that. The half is Governor Bala Mohammed. We met with him until 3am, and he was supposed to defect the next day, but he called us in the morning saying he has changed his mind because he was advised not to move to a party with a strong presidential candidate. Bala Mohammed is on the fence. He may work with us, or he may work with President Tinubu. - NDC Chieftain Buba Galadima spoke at the inauguration of the NDC National Reconciliation Committee set up to resolve post-primary election disputes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

On the day of the APC convention in 2014, the North West was supporting Kwankwaso and Atiku while the South West was waiting for Tinubu's direction. The South East was supporting Okorocha, and he was likely to win the presidential ticket based on our numbers. So we decided to visit Governor Nyako and Governor Wamakko to convince them to support Buhari. They didn't listen much, so we went to Tinubu at night. We met with him, showed him the data on Buhari's previous votes in the North, and convinced him to align the South West with Buhari. That night, Bola didn't sleep. He went back to Governor Nyako and Governor Wamakko and persuaded both to support Buhari. That was when we got the North West votes back for Buhari. At the convention, Buhari had the North West and South West and picked up votes from other zones while the other candidates split the remaining votes. So anytime Buhari complained about Tinubu, I would bring up the history, and Buhari, being a man of conscience, would agree. The complaints were about Tinubu's upbringing and education. He had access to files on Tinubu, but I told him, "You knew all this when you asked for his support, and he gave it to us. So why bite the finger that fed us?" Buhari agreed and changed. I was one of the people who knew firsthand what Tinubu did to facilitate Buhari's presidency, and I never let Buhari forget it. - Former SGF Babachir Lawal

INEC is neutral. They've never intimidated anybody. If political opponents are crying wolf, maybe they're afraid of their own shadows and the uncertainties in the company they keep, not me - President Tinubu spoke to a delegation of Catholic Bishops who visited him at the Presidential Villa

President Tinubu, I'm the Chief Security Officer of Osun State, and I'm passing this message to you. Osun will not accept any rigging. If anybody tries to do otherwise, the political crisis of 1983, when some people tried to rig Michael Ajasin out of power in Ondo State, may repeat itself again. President Tinubu, the Accord Party has endorsed you as its presidential candidate. Why are we suffering again? - Governor Adeleke sends a message to President Tinubu ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State

I returned all the mission schools to the church during my tenure as Lagos State Governor. One of you, Cardinal Anthony Okogie, is alive to testify to that. But the schools are in the states. Preach to them, the governors of your states. They do the job. There is no need for a constitutional amendment for that. - President Tinubu declined the request of the Catholic Bishops to consider the return of mission schools, redirecting the bishops to engage the state governors.

President Tinubu was an excellent human being before he became president. If you're in a problem, he'll go to whatever length to solve it. He was a good listener, took advice, and was kind. I used to liken him to Buhari because he was also very kind and sympathetic to people. He was an excellent human being, but he goes on to become president, and something happened. I know the time he changed, and I told him. Around 2022, Tinubu relocated to Abuja to pursue his presidential ambition, and our people, the northerners who were his friends, surrounded him, and he was caged. They introduced him to religious bigots who claimed they knew Buhari, and that was when he started changing. I had access to him then in Abuja. He's someone you can like. Bola has given some people a stupendous amount of money to help them out of crises without expecting anything. But the thing about Tinubu is that he has a gift. He can see in you future returns in advance. He does things like that. He was a good man at that time, but he has lost his soul now. He's someone who's in charge all the time, but he doesn't look in charge anymore as long as he gets his own share of whatever he's looking for. The rest they can loot however they want. I wish he could go back to what he was before. Nigeria will be great. - Former SGF Babachir Lawal

President Tinubu is not a healthy man. Nigerians are not fooled when he goes to France. I've said it before. He has done four years. He should face his health. Bola is not even someone who is materialistic. He wakes up in the morning and eats banana and groundnut, and that's his food. What I know he likes most is silk cigarettes. He smokes. He likes that a lot. He can't do without it. I don't know if he has stopped. - Former SGF Babachir Lawal
