Why is my mother beating me with leaves? 🌿 Because in Finland, we call it VIHTOMINEN 🇫🇮 it’s not punishment, it’s love 😁 ⁣ During a traditional Finnish Sauna, we gently whip ourselves (or each other!) with fresh birch branches called VIHTA or VASTA🌿 It’s an ancient ritual that relaxes muscles, boosts circulation, opens the skin, and connects us with nature 🌱 The scent of birch, the steam, and the rhythm of the branches... it’s a full-body experience 😊

I am NÄKKI 🤭 a mythical water spirit from Finnish folklore… part warning, part enchantment 😉 Said to dwell in dark lakes and wells, I was the reason children were told not to go too close to the edge…

One of the most common questions I get about Finnish sauna culture is: "Do you really go to sauna with your family?" The short answer is yes, many Finns do. For a lot of us, sauna has never been seen as something unusual or awkward. It's simply a normal part of everyday life☺️🤷‍♀️✨ 1/4

Is this Sauna dangerous? 💀 No chimney, room filled with smoke and the walls turn completely black! This is savusauna, the traditional Finnish smoke sauna 🔥 There’s a reason we throw häkälöylyt before going in... 😁
