On July 17, 2024, in Portland, OR., Joseph Naes used a sling shot to fire a six inch barbed dart into the back of Logan Sharp, giving him a collapsed lung. You can see Naes celebrating after the dart went into Sharp’s back. The two didn’t know each other but Sharp had broken up a domestic violence incident between Naes and his partner a week earlier. Naes was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 70 months in prison.

On May 11, 2017, Raymond Cabalfin, Jr., 19, and a friend jumped into the North Fork of the American River. The river had an unusually rapid current from all the snow melting and a temperature of about 40-50°. While his friend was able to easily climb out, Raymond jumped out further and the couldn’t swim out of the current. Though his friends called 911 and ran along the river bank to keep track of him, Raymond was lost to the river. His body was recovered 3 miles downstream and 18 days later.
