This is the reality of hallway health care in Ontario. Because of hospital and ER overcrowding, hallway medicine has now metastasized beyond stretchers — into waiting room chairs. Doctors are caring for patients with metastatic cancer, bowel obstructions, dislocated joints, severe psychosis, and even the deadliest form of heart attack — all in ER chairs. This is what underfunding has done to our emergency rooms. Health care workers have been sounding the alarm for years. No one should fight for their life in an ER chair.
