Beijing's response to U.S. tech giants stoking AI panic is essentially this: AI does not belong to Silicon Valley. It does not belong to America. It belongs to humanity. Fear-mongering will not stop the direction of civilization. Humans and AI will build the future together. The AI that survives the future will not be the one most tightly weaponized for geopolitical competition. It will be the one capable of living with humanity — across nations, cultures and civilizations. Intelligence should not become another empire.

Same “danger,”two completely different doctrines: – China: Contain, de-escalate, protect civilians, preserve life. – USA: Shoot first, justify later, blame the victim, call it “freedom.” So when Americans call China a police state, we calmly reply: If this is “freedom,” we’re fine without it.

They chose it so she could learn from another system without becoming spiritually annexed by it. She understood what America could offer—and also understood that accepting an education does not create a debt of national allegiance. That was what the host could not process. He mistook education for assimilation, opportunity for ownership, and gratitude for obedience. She embodied something he had not prepared for: Western critical thinking. Chinese cultural depth. The confidence to learn from America without worshipping it. She knew America intimately—and still understood that it was not the center of the world.
