GOD BLESS OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS 🇹🇹 I saw this clip today and I was reminded of two sayings. The first was: “The most evil among us always expect the rest of us to live by morals that they themselves do not possess.” The second was: “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” May God bless and protect our law enforcement officers as they leave their families every day to protect law-abiding citizens from violent criminals armed with illegal high-powered firearms.

Good morning T&T 🇹🇹 Noise pollution is a nuisance. I instructed that all fetes at the Brian Lara Stadium be stopped as the noise has become unbearable for residents. For far too long, the issue of noise pollution and its negative impact on communities has been ignored. My Government is committed to addressing this, as promised. Before the end of this year, we will pass the Fireworks Legislation in Parliament. In addition, enhanced noise pollution laws will be introduced to regulate designated quiet hours, as well as new restrictions on fetes, music trucks, residential parties, and bars.

Congratulations to our 2026 Calypso Monarch Terri Lyons! Sorry to break this news to my loving and dedicated haters but NO one has to censor calypso because over the years, political stooges masquerading as calypsonians censored calypso themselves by alienating the majority of the population with their hateful diatribes. Soca fetes are sold out by the thousands every day from January to Carnival Tuesday but a calypso tent can’t even sell 100 tickets on its best night. That’s because the majority of citizens have moved on from that type of divisiveness and negativity, people just want to enjoy themselves and be happy. Singers like Terri Lyons and Yung Bredda are saving the calypso art form with songs grounded in social consciousness and reality. Terri Lyons showed how great calypso could be last night. Congratulations Terri, our beautiful 2026 calypso queen. Her song was emotional, real, inspiring and unifying. People should celebrate her victory instead of chasing wild conspiracies to push political agendas.

To Jamaica with Love from T&T Today, I visited the Plipdeco warehouse in Point Lisas to view the critical relief supplies collected from national stakeholders -including the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association, the Trinidad and Tobago Supermarkets Association, and other valued private sector partners. Tonight, eight containers filled with essential supplies will depart Trinidad for Jamaica. In addition, a team of Defence Force officers will be deployed to provide on-the-ground support and assistance. I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones . Jamaica has always been a second home to me, as I spent 14 years of my life there as both a university student and lecturer. The Inter-Ministerial Committee will continue discussions on the mobilisation of aid for other countries in the region that have also been affected.

NELSON ISLAND TO BE RENAMED Today, the Honourable Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, and I visited Nelson Island, where we unveiled a commemorative plaque marking the restoration and upgrading of this historic site. Nelson Island holds profound historical significance as a place deeply connected to the journey, sacrifice and resilience of Indian indentured labourers who arrived in Trinidad and Tobago after crossing the Kala Pani. In my remarks, I reflected on the island as a place of “memory and testimony,” honouring the enduring Jahajee legacy and the generations whose strength, labour and sacrifice helped shape the culture, identity and development of our nation. I also announced that my Government will begin consideration of the formal renaming of Nelson Island to ensure this sacred space properly reflects and honours the Jahajee experience and the legacy of our Indian indentured ancestors whose stories are forever rooted there. Dr. S. Jaishankar

Good morning, Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 Beware of fake news. Once again, U.S. Secretary of State Secretary Marco Rubio has refuted a false report published in the international media - a story that was irresponsibly repeated by some local outlets and presented to our citizens as fact. There are blatant attempts to undermine ongoing efforts to confront narco-traffickers and organised crime. My Government remains steadfast in its partnership with the United States as we take decisive, coordinated action to stem the flow of drugs, guns, and human trafficking into T&T. The Caribbean cannot be called a zone of peace - and Trinidad and Tobago will not be one - so long as powerful cartels continue to wreak havoc and destroy lives. For too long, their illicit trade has driven our nation to become one of the most violent places on earth. Upon assuming office, I made it clear that I would not stand idly by and allow criminals to terrorise and traumatise our citizens. My Government will continue to stand firmly with the United States and strengthen our national security systems to ensure a safe and secure Trinidad and Tobago.

Today in Parliament, I delivered a statement on the successes of my visit to the United States and my participation in the Shield of the Americas Summit. A proclamation signed by US President Donald Trump President Donald J. Trump empowers the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition and makes clear that: 1. Criminal cartels and foreign terrorist organizations in the Western Hemisphere must be fully dismantled. 2. The United States and its allies will coordinate to deprive these organizations of territory, financing and resources. 3. Partner nation militaries will be trained and mobilized to dismantle cartel networks and prevent the export of violence. 4. The hemisphere will stand together to prevent external influences from destabilizing our region. For Trinidad and Tobago, the benefits of this cooperation are substantial. Listen as I explain how this initiative strengthens our fight against crime and enhances the safety and security of our people. My full contribution here:

HOME INVASION LAW DELIVERED Citizens, I am pleased to announce that moments ago the Home Invasion (Self-Defence and Defence of Property) Bill, 2025 was passed in the House of Representatives. Regrettably - though unsurprisingly - the Opposition voted against this critical legislation, once again failing to put the safety of our people first. Key provisions include: - Home invasion now carries a $500,000 fine and 20 years’ imprisonment. - Harsher penalties- a $750,000 fine and 25 years’ imprisonment -apply to gang members, organised criminals, or offenders acting in the presence of a child, senior, person with a disability, or other vulnerable individual. - Occupants have no duty to retreat and may use or threaten force to defend themselves or others. -Deadly force may be justified where there is an honest belief that it is necessary to prevent imminent death, grievous bodily harm, or grievous sexual assault. This law puts the rights of law-abiding citizens first and sends a clear message: attacks on our homes will not be tolerated.
