#ISPR Official Press Release Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) of Pakistan, visited Quetta Garrison and interacted with commanders and commanding officers of the field formations. (Major General Faisal Naseer) During the visit, COAS & CDF was given a comprehensive briefing on prevailing security environment, operational preparedness and ongoing measures aimed at maintaining peace and stability across Balochistan. Matters related to institutional coordination and support to the socio-economic development of the province were also reviewed. COAS & CDF appreciated the high standards of professionalism, operational readiness and selfless commitment displayed by troops. He underscored importance of continued coordination among Law Enforcement Agencies and other state institutions to consolidate peace and maintain an environment conducive to sustained economic activity and development. The Field Marshal reaffirmed that the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Balochistan remain central to the efforts of the state. He emphasised that a stable and secure environment would continue to facilitate development initiatives, economic opportunities and improved prospects for the people of the province. COAS & CDF paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs and lauded the steadfast dedication of officers and troops in the discharge of their duties. Upon arrival at Quetta, COAS & CDF was received by Commander Quetta Corps.

Neither did GHQ or the federal government issue these licences, the authority to issue licenses has always been with the Mines and Minerals Department, Govt of KPK 🟥Mining Licenses surged during PTI tenure (2018-2022) 🟥PTI and JUI-F affiliated accounts are spreading a misleading political narrative through circulating statements by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, falsely alleging that the imposition of Emergency and Governor's Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the merged tribal districts (former FATA) is a deception under the pretext of lawlessness aimed at seizing the region's mountains and mineral reserves. 🟥This claim is ABSOLUTELY FAKE and contradicted by official government records based on the following facts: 🟥Official records show, since the creation of Pakistan until 2010, only 482 mining licenses/titles were issued in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, whereas the number surged rapidly during PTI's provincial governments, rising to 1,762 by 2020, 3,962 by February 2024, and reaching a total of 4,917 mining licenses at present, including 4,133 in settled districts and 784 in the merged tribal districts. Throughout this entire period, the military construction Organisation FWO was granted only one license in 2015 in the Boya area of North Waziristan, where it was engaged in construction and rehabilitation projects. Rather than acquiring mines, the military recently facilitated the cancellation of approximately 40 mining licenses linked to retired officers and their families, and not a single application among the more than 500 new pending mining applications has been submitted by any military entity. The formal legal framework for mineral regulation and sales was enacted by the PTI provincial government under the KP Mines and Minerals Act of 2017, during which departmental revenue rose from Rs 2.17 billion in 2016–17 to Rs 7.43 billion in 2024–25, and with NAB and audit investigations currently underway into illegal mining of gold and phosphate, artificially low reserve prices, missing records, and environmental violations during PTI's tenure, such baseless allegations are only meant to deflect from provincial accountability.

Throughout this entire period, the military construction Organisation FWO was granted only one license in 2015 in the Boya area of North Waziristan, where it was engaged in construction and rehabilitation projects. Rather than acquiring mines, the military recently facilitated the cancellation of approximately 40 mining licenses linked to retired officers and their families, and not a single application among the more than 500 new pending mining applications has been submitted by any military entity. The formal legal framework for mineral regulation and sales was enacted by the PTI provincial government under the KP Mines and Minerals Act of 2017, during which departmental revenue rose from Rs 2.17 billion in 2016–17 to Rs 7.43 billion in 2024–25, and with NAB and audit investigations currently underway into illegal mining of gold and phosphate, artificially low reserve prices, missing records, and environmental violations during PTI's tenure, such baseless allegations are only meant to deflect from provincial accountability.
