🇵🇸 🇹🇷 “ Today, Gaza is not only the world's largest graveyard for children. It is also the place with the highest rate of child amputations in the world. Gaza has become the most inhumane and shameful concentration camp of our time. In Gaza alone, over the past 3 years, we have lost 74,000 of our brothers and sisters, most of them women and children. We lost them to what we regard as acts of state terror by Israel. The people of Gaza are still searching for their loved ones beneath the rubble. They are recovering the bodies of their spouses, their children, or parents. Innocent children who have lost their arms and legs in Israeli attacks are trying to return to school. Meanwhile, the West Bank is witnessing the most severe period of what we regard as settler violence and terror. In Jerusalem, Muslims and Christians are being denied access to holy sites. There is an attempt to destroy UNRWA, which is our collective initiative.”

"I am a Palestinian representative speaking of the power of international law. When international law could not shield a Palestinian child from bombs and bullets. When it could not feed them as he starved. When it could not offer them shelter or lift the restrictions on humanitarian access as winter laid down its siege. When it could not regrow their limb or resuscitate their loved ones. Did international law fail Palestinian victims? No. The law provided for their protection. Did the Court fail them? No. Had the Court’s provisional orders been implemented, the genocide could have been stopped. The Court has provided guidance to UN organs and States on ending the illegal Israeli occupation and ensuring humanitarian assistance reaches those desperately in need. It has done its part. But it cannot enforce its decisions. Implementation remains subject to the will of States. It is for all States to determine whether they contribute to the rule of international law or to its demise."

🇵🇸🇮🇩“International law must be upheld consistently. Sovereignty must be respected and colonialism must be brought to an end. This is where Palestine remains one of the clearest tests of these principles, and the test of our conscience. The clear violation of international law in Gaza and the West Bank are reminiscent of our world pre 1945, a world pre the UN charter, pre the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and pre the four 1949 Geneva Conventions, a world where a certain race was almost annihilated. Indonesia knows what it means to struggle against colonialism, to struggle in a world where international law was weak and might was right. Our nation's journey to independence has shaped our consistent support for the Palestinian people and their right to determine their own future. Indonesia will continue to stand with the Palestinian people until their right to self-determination is fulfilled, and until an independent and sovereign state of Palestine is realised based on the two state solution, in accordance with international law and internationally agreed parameters. Palestine is not only a question for one region, it is a test of whether a multilateral system can uphold the very principles it was created to defend, and whether it can deliver when it matters most.”
