It was definitely an amazing game after 4 and 5 felt like weaker entries. The use of verticality in the level design and combat system also gives the game some flavor from the typical RPG level design and combat flow.

I will never understand the appeal of MGR lol. Bosses full of no hitstun that hop all over the place with a sluggish weighty combat feel. No real time weapon switch. defense options that you can mash with no timing. Animation cancels that trivializes offense/frame data.

Most games are not gonna turn horse riding into a cinematic because the horse riding is actually a significant component of the gameplay/combat loop. Also dynasty warriors has mastered the art of horse riding visually and gameplay mechanically across decades of games.

We played different games. I never had to wait my turn, it’s always my turn.

Game is peak

Do people know when you beat rebirth you can turn off the pause in the menu and the game plays perfectly fine? Actually it becomes a more strategic and skillful game this way because you have to use your menu at intelligent moments like during move recovery or in safe spots

Re installed the game. Didn’t even check my build or controls, just prayed I still had muscle memory lol. It’s still shallow af unfortunately. Pressure enemy -&gt; combo enemy to death -&gt; rinse and repeat. Part 3 has to do better.

Insane game

First mission cleared Cons: It’s a textbook soulslike/parry game, not a single drop of originality or sauce in this game at all. Pros: it’s not horrible, I had fun. It’s the kind of game I would play in between waiting for games that I actually want to play.

This discourse point needs to stop. Nobody said the OG isn’t goofy, the OG had a balance of serious and goofy. The remake turns scenes that were once serious into pure fucking jokes, like Barrett throwing the black materia to Sephiroth. Ridiculous

Game is ok, but there isn’t a lot to get hype about, gameplay is super bare bones.

It’s true you can trivialize the game completely

Btw the main reason I like FFXVI has nothing to do with combos (but it does have 1 of the most fun combo systems in a game imo) still one of my favorite clips and this is the type of scenario that keeps me coming back to XVI
