NATPHARM has dismissed social media claims over alleged shortages of paracetamol in public health institutions, saying some of the criticism is being driven by limited understanding of medicine classification systems. The pharmaceutical company explained that not all medicines fall under the essential medicines category, adding that there is need for greater public awareness on how medicines are prioritised, procured and distributed within the healthcare system. Paracetamol is not an essential medicine.

"We refuse to become a casino country. Gambling must never be normalised as a way of life while betting shops rake in profits and families are pushed deeper into hardship. This cannot continue.
