This holiday weekend, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding, I'll be thinking not just about the history of the United States but about our future. If our generation does its job, then by the time our kids are celebrating the 300th, they'll look back on the decades between these milestones with admiration for how America faced ferocious challenges and once more drew nearer to its highest ideals. From our family to yours, happy Fourth of July!

This holiday weekend, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding, I'll be thinking not just about the history of the United States but about our future. I am not making this up: Secretary Rubio actually sat before Congress today and said “the war is over.” It’s a bizarre lie to tell when Americans know there’s obviously a war underway - not just from seeing it on screens, but from paying its costs every day at home.
