Nobody was legally obligated to do what happened next. Nobody issued an emergency order. Nobody called a press conference. Two zookeepers — Kosuke Shikano, 24 years old, and Shumpei Miyakoshi, 34 years old — simply looked at a one-day-old baby monkey and decided he was worth saving.
