This is Korbin Colthorp. He’s the ONLY doctor in Western Michigan University’s 28-person Family Medicine–Kalamazoo residency who attended medical school in the United States. The other 27 went to medical school abroad. 27 out of 28. 96.4%. Americans are told we have a doctor shortage. Maybe we should start asking why the solution apparently isn’t training more Americans.

I think I found the residency résumé industry. Mount Sinai lists Dr. Ratesh Khillan as a voluntary faculty physician/Assistant Clinical Professor affiliated with Beth Israel and Mount Sinai Brooklyn. Meanwhile, his private Brooklyn USCE business advertises Mount Sinai among its “teaching affiliates” while selling clinical rotations and residency-related services to IMGs. His Brooklyn USCE business currently advertises: $1,550: 4-week clinical rotation +$399: opportunity to participate in research with Dr. Khillan LORs on hospital letterhead for some rotations plus CV review, interview prep, residency signaling guidance and other Match services in larger packages. Then I started looking at the research. Two completely unrelated single-patient case reports, published two months apart, have the exact same 10 Brooklyn Cancer Care authors, just rearranged. One is a liver hematoma case and the other is Stage IV endometrial cancer. And this isn’t even the only company selling residency research credentials. USMLE Wise openly advertises $300 “co-author” placement on an active research project and $800 “lead-author” placement. They say participants perform substantive work and meet authorship standards, but those are literally the products being sold to residency applicants. So foreign medical graduates can now shop for American clinical rotations, research opportunities, publication credits, hospital-letterhead recommendations, interview coaching and Match strategy. Meanwhile we’re told a publication-heavy CV proves who the “best” residency candidate is. How much of the American residency meritocracy is actually a credential marketplace?

It’s actually crazy to me that they went 4-5 weeks after getting inspected without doing this. Then as soon as they felt “the heat” was off them, Sangam went right back to storing grocery items outside - in front of a fire exit and by the dumpster. Now, even better - they’re storing fresh produce directly next to the dumpster. Houston Health Dept Dr. Josh C. Simmons

It seems like immigration lawyers are catching heat from all sides… 😂 Audubon says it paid Houston immigration lawyer Alla Nowowiejski $109,855.84 for five H-1B employees. Then she allegedly sent them fake USCIS approvals, fake receipts and even a fake “meeting canceled” email. Yesterday she was arrested for Mail fraud and False statements. Of note - she’s the same attorney on 7 certified LCAs in DOL data (2020-current), including two at the Lone Star College System (a public college).

We are supposed to believe that a “University” that enrolls 2,000 students a year and a tech company which needed to file ~1,000 LCAs operates in this space.

Wait. NYREACH is advertising its U.S. clinical-experience program to foreign medical graduates with: “Can apply with tourist visa.” Then it advertises 8- and 12-week rotations in New York City. Their current posting says participants commit at least 8 weeks, Monday–Friday, 9–5 and may assist with history-taking and physical examinations. It also says they provide a visa invitation letter but do not sponsor visas. (Essen Medical Associates Careers Center) Here’s the problem: The State Department says a B-2 visitor visa does not authorize study or employment and the narrow B-1 medical-clerkship exception is for current foreign medical students completing an approved part of their degree, not graduate medical training. Physician observerships on B-1 are supposed to be observation, without hands-on patient care. So what exactly does “tourist visa” mean here? And what immigration status are foreign medical graduates using while assisting with histories and physical exams in a U.S. clinic? That seems like a question somebody should answer. USCIS Director Joseph B. Edlow Inspector General Anthony D'Esposito Dr. Oz CMS

J.C. Penney is ~125 year old American business, yet somehow: Shein now owns part of it. They hire H-1B Financial Planning Managers (among other roles.) And we have to listen to this commercial the entire back to school season. 😔

We’ve all seen the fake resumes coming out of India that impact our labor market, but did you know India’s first Heavyweight Champion also faked it? Despite no apparent athletic skill, footwork or punching power, Rohit Singh bought his way to a WBF Asia Pacific title and even managed to be recognized by the WBC Legends of Boxing Museum. (Ironically, this probably is enough to qualify him for an EB-1a visa.) Is any industry safe from Indian fraud?
