Transforming Education from the Ground Up. Today, we took another important step in transforming education from the ground up. In partnership with eight universities, we launched the construction of three quality pre-primary schools in Buno Bedele Zone of Oromia Region, with an investment of ETB 43.5 million through the Summer Volunteer Service Program. We also planted seedlings and delivered educational materials for 1,000 students. These are more than school buildings. They are investments in our children, their learning, and the future they will shape. Once completed, these schools will provide young children with a strong foundation on which to build their lives. We extend our sincere gratitude to the people and administration of Buno Bedele for the warm welcome and generous hospitality. The transformation underway in pre-primary education is fundamental to improving the quality of our entire education system. Imagine the change if every child through out Ethiopia gets such opportunity, & it is possible if we work hard and prioritise. In the last five years, more than 34,000 have been built. Yet we need more to cover everyone. Hence let us join hands to build a strong foundation for every child and a better future for our education system.

Yesterday, a bank in the same town was closed after staff were detained by militants. Similar stories throughout the region. The madness continues, and it must stop. This evening, armed militants from a criminal group of Army 60 opened fire on mothers who courageously opposed the forced conscription of their children in Hagereselam, Dogu'a Tembien, #Tigray, #Ethiopia. Many of our universities across Ethiopia are holding graduation ceremonies this week, celebrating the achievements of thousands of graduates who will help shape our nation's future. I was delighted to join the 7th graduation ceremony of Werabe University in the beautiful city of Werabe, Central Ethiopia. I highlighted the ongoing reforms in the education sector and had the privilege of presenting medals and a trophy to the top-performing graduates. Forced Conscription in #ትግራይ Tigray Forced conscription is happening through out #Tigray by the criminal group! Many elderly parents are imprisoned in a very bad condition for refusing to let their children join the army. There are mutiple reports that young people who are rouded up and tried to escape or resist conscription are shot, subject to beating and starved in makeshift camps. This is executing Shaebiya's model of dictatorial leadership sytle in Tigray; Eritreanisation of Tigray! What a shame! Such barberic act should be unanimously condemned in the strongest terms possible & those doing it be held accountable! Enough is enough! #ግፋ ነውሪ!

The last cohort of the 200 #Ambulances project have reached #Tigray this week. This is a big breakthrough for rehabilitating the #health system. It was not easy and many colleagues/institutions have done a superb job. Much appreciation & respect to everyone that made this happen!
