I really don't like the design approach they had with some of the gadgets in Crossworlds where they made certain mechanics awful on purpose just to justify the existence of a gadget that would have been useless otherwise, like, tricking without an air trick gadget feels horrible

I believe what Kishimoto was referring to is not similar to what we saw in the updates and instead a more traditional spindash. Since launch there has been an unused spindash state in the game whereas the update 2 one is internally called spinboost 1/3
