RAI-939 outperformed industry-leading aerospace material C103 by 125x. In a head-to-head torch test, Purdue Applied Research Institute confirmed that Radical AI’s RAI-939 sample exhibited superior environmental survivability to C103. C103 has been in use since the Apollo program, but its performance limitations and constrained supply have fueled a decades-long search for a replacement. Our lab discovered that replacement in just 16 weeks. Now, we aim to scale up production of the alloy to make bigger components.

Radical AI is redefining the boundaries of materials science. As we prepare to open a 45,000-square-foot lab in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, we’re set to even further accelerate the discovery of next-generation materials that will shape our future. Thank you Nathan Labenz for inviting Joseph Krause and JC to share how Radical is pursuing the holy grail of materials science intelligence.

We are building autonomous scientific discovery. And it runs 370x faster than a human scientist. Our AI agents index millions of scientific publications and learn what an entire field has done in the time it takes a researcher to read one paper. Then we bring it to the lab to verify and further fuel learnings. 10 years to discover a material? Not here.

We don’t avoid complexity, we go straight into it. Our team says it best. Ryan Donovan, Senior Mechanical Engineer at Radical AI, on why we started with high entropy alloys: → It’s a huge exploration space, with more than 10⁴⁰ possible combinations → Despite the importance of applications across aerospace, over 20 years of research led to only 3,425 discoveries → In just a few months, we’ve generated 300 novel compositions
