In Alien, Sigourney Weaver said she was criticized for this scene. “People have said, ‘Aw, how could you demean yourself by doing this?’ And I say, ‘Are you kidding? After five days of blood and guts, sweat and urine, do you think Ripley wouldn’t take off her clothes?’

In Jaws, Robert Shaw was drunk in the first take of this intense monologue. He struggled with alcoholism and was a heavy drinker during Jaws production. He suggested to Spielberg that, since the characters were drinking in the scene, he should have a few real drinks to get into character. Spielberg agreed but then regretted it. On the first take, Shaw got very drunk. Crew members had to carry him onto the boat. He slurred lines, wandered off-script, and the filming was halted. He had a blackout and didn’t remember much. Early the next morning, Shaw called Spielberg to apologize and begged for a reshoot. He showed up sober, nailed it. And that take was used.

In A Quiet Place, John Krasinski said no one could make eye contact with Emily Blunt after she nailed the bathtub scene in just one take. “She changed the air in the room. It felt like you were witnessing a moment you shouldn’t be witnessing.” “Only one crew member spoke afterward and said, ‘I don’t think we were supposed to watch that. None of us should have been there.’” Emily Blunt later said Krasinski thought it would take five days to shoot the scene and Blunt simply did it one take and then said: “What’s for lunch?”

Tom Cruise stressed out Top Gun: Maverick actors for this scene because he wanted the absolute perfection. Glen Powell said: “We shot it, and then that night, we all went out for milkshakes. Everybody grabbed a beer. And then a week later, Tom was like… ‘Guys, we’ve got to shoot it again. It wasn’t good enough. We’re gonna shoot it again’ “And then everyone was back in the gym day and night.” Director said: “The actors were in a very kind of stressed-out state, they’d all been working so hard to get ready for that scene.” “They were under the pressure, the weight of the original scene being so iconic.” “I remember Glen went out 110 percent on the first play and hurt himself, but he was able to recover quickly and we were able to get a great version of it.”

The Office writers were told to open the Super Bowl episode so wild no one changes the channel. They almost went with “Jim loses Pam in a poker game.” Instead: the legendary fire drill chaos. Filming took 1.5 days. Real cast panic made it even crazier. Two trained identical cats, a $12K stuffed double backup. No animals harmed, takes were tightly controlled. It was the most-watched episode of the series

In Casino Royale, David Corenswet says Bond gets his second kill in the bathroom, not in the office “My hot take is, everyone thinks the second kill is when Bond kills the main bad guy in the office later and he’s like, ‘Yes, considerably.’ “But what actually happened is, experientially, Bond already had his second kill because he drowned the guy and then had to shoot him.” “So, in his experience, he had to go through drowning the guy, thought he was dead, thought that he had had his first kill, and then the guy woke up and he just shot him. So, that’s actually the second kill in his mind that was super easy.” “It’s a human experience thing. The point is not the second person you kill, it’s the second experience of killing.”
