Oddly enough, #Lanterns is making me more peeved at Gunn’s decision to make Superman around Corenswet’s age. Because if the bulk of this season takes place in 2016… wtf was Clark doing at 21 years old?? Still SIX YEARS before he introduced himself to the world as Superman! Was he just The Blur like he was in Smallville? Was he just in college to become a journalist? For the time being, I’m just gonna assume he has Christopher Reeve’s origin. Leaves home for the first time after graduating high school to find the fortress of solitude in the Antarctica. Then he spends roughly like 10-12 years there training and honing his abilities before embracing the world as Superman.

…what? He gave the key for Lanterns to two of the best showrunners in the game, who is leagues above him in the realm of tv. He adopted the screenplay written by THEE Mike Flanagan to honor his Clayface story. He defended Matt Reeves for MONTHS for taking forever on the Batman screenplay. Gunn is by no means afraid of filmmakers or storytellers that people may deem better than him. He loves film and he loves true visionaries.

No hate to 3C Films, but these two things he mentions doesn’t even add up and just feels like an excuse to shit on DC Studios for no real reason than to just glaze Marvel💀 Kevin Feige admits his failure to make the Blade movie happen after seven years. Yet James Gunn also did the same thing with The Authority not coming to fruition in less amount of time. Those are instances of them both as producers saying sometimes things just don’t pan out. If you want James Gunn to come out and say Supergirl was a failure… why? Did you want Kevin Feige to do the same with The Marvels? Or The Incredible Hulk? Is it not possible that they were both proud of what them and their team put together but it just didn’t work out for audiences?

DC animation used to be on a whole other level. This is genuinely incredible.

GAHHHH!! The fact that this ENTIRE SCENE is animated movie exclusive just goes to prove how vastly superior this film is to the comic! This scene works on so many levels, which is a large part of why it’s so iconic to this day. For one, we are seeing the power of a full fledged Kryptonian- even if not fully honing her skills yet. The animators go all out in showing how not only overwhelmingly powerful Kara is, but also how her fight style greatly differentiates from Superman’s as she engages in combat with more elegance and tactical precision. She has her own flow that not even Darkseid can predict. But more importantly this is Kara coming into her own. Because this movie actually gives her agency and an arc, we’re seeing her tap into her full potential as Supergirl here. The spark that Lyla saw in her earlier (who ALSO has greater characterization here). She’s fully embracing who she is and taking that leap of faith, and kicking ass while doing so.
