BITTER BREW: Tim Hortons says it's hiring Canadians again — but these GTA stores still favour foreign workers 🍁 We brought our big, beautiful billboard truck to the Toronto and Aurora locations. Our message: Don't give Tim Hortons another dollar. Rebel News recently dropped by a couple of Tim Hortons stores in the Greater Toronto Area — one in North Toronto and one in Aurora. We didn’t pay a visit to grab a cup of coffee or a box of Timbits. Rather, we were there to prove that Tim Hortons recently served up a whopper of a lie. Tims, which is owned by a Brazilian hedge fund called 3G Capital, has faced growing pressure to change its hiring practices. Despite being Canada’s largest foodservice company, Tim’s has been exploiting the Temporary Foreign Worker Program to hire noncitizens. Alas, Tims has suffered some bad PR due to these hiring practices. And so it was that Tims went into damage control mode recently. Tims' CEO publicly stated that the company is going to go back to hiring Canadian workers again. That’s fantastic news! Except for one hitch: It’s fake news. That’s because the CEO was lying through his teeth. Indeed, he recently personally registered as a lobbyist to keep Canada's immigration laws as loose as possible — so that Tim’s could continue exploiting the TFW Program. While the company claims it is now hiring Canadians, Tims is STILL all-in when it comes to hiring cheap foreign labour. As if a multi-billion-dollar foodservice conglomerate needs corporate welfare in the first place! And yes, we have the proof. It’s right there in black and white on the federal government's Temporary Foreign Worker Program website. There are some 90 active Tim Hortons jobs from coast to coast up for grabs. Clearly, Tim’s is still hiring foreigners rather than Canadians, despite their false pronouncements. So we brought our big, beautiful billboard truck to the Toronto and Aurora locations. Our message: Don't give Tim Hortons another dollar. Rather, sign our boycott campaign by visiting This company is shameless. Sure, Tim Hortons likes to wrap itself in the Maple Leaf. Yes, it’s delighted to sell food and beverages to Canadians. It just doesn’t like to hire Canadian citizens. It’s outrageous. With so many people unemployed, with youth unemployment at record levels, and with the summer job becoming a thing of the past, does Tims' strategy seem ethically or morally right to you? We wonder what the dearly departed legendary hockey player that the chain is named after would say about this sad state of affairs? P.S. Check out the streeters we did. While many customers condemned Tim Hortons, others wanted to shoot the messenger, deeming our campaign "racist." Those people, by the way, self-identified as supporters of the Mark Carney Liberals. To which we say, golly, whatever happened to “elbows up”?

Homeowners furious after Ontario government threatens to seize portions of backyards 🏘️ Eight Burlington, Ont. homeowners face losing massive sections of their backyards to the provincial government without compensation. Why? Talk about a most bizarre and baffling boundary dispute! In sleepy Burlington, Ont., eight homeowners are fighting to save their backyards from the clutches of the Government of Ontario (the Ministry of Transportation to be precise.) The homeowners face losing about two-thirds of their backyards. And they must also incur the costs of moving any infrastructure that stands in the way. This would include everything from backyard patios and storage sheds to even a swimming pool. As to why the MTO is acting in such a fashion, this remains a mysterious question. The crux of the matter is that the eight homes back onto the Queen Elizabeth Way highway. The current boundary is marked by a chain-link fence. As well, a few metres away from the chain-link fence stands a stone wall. One wouldn’t even realize there is a major highway on the other side of that stone wall unless this fact was brought to one’s attention. By way of background, the eight homes in question were constructed some 70 years ago. And for seven decades the current boundary existed without controversy. But the MTO is now maintaining that the land in question has always belonged to the government and that the province is simply reclaiming land that has always been government property. But again, what is the ostensible policy reason for this boundary extension? And why now? This relatively little patch of land surely cannot be used to extend the highway, nor construct a railway line – the typical reasons for land expropriation by the government, or, in this case, land reclamation. Rebel News ventured out to Burlington to interview the affected homeowners who have indeed lawyered up and are not bending the knee without a fight. They are also very concerned that in the expanded boundary area, homeless people might set up encampments, which would seriously impact their quality of life. We also reached out to the media relations department of the MTO. Our queries included: 1⃣ The existing boundary has been in place for some 70 years. Why is the MTO now wanting to extend the boundary? 2⃣ What is the purpose given that there is not enough land in question for any sort of extension of the Queen Elizabeth Way (which is situated on the other side of the backyards)? 3⃣ I understand the residents will not be compensated for the loss of this land. Why is that the case? Our queries were not even acknowledged, which, alas, is standard business procedure when it comes to the communications strategy of the Doug “For the People” Ford Progressive Conservatives. In the meantime, this baffling boundary dispute appears to be headed to a court of law. Stay tuned. David Menzies

Canada's governor general quietly locks the country into the WHO's expanded pandemic powers As the U.S. rejects the revamped, legally binding framework, Canada is full steam ahead with debate or public consultation. Canada has moved forward without a whisper of debate on the World Health Organization’s latest bid for greater authority over global health emergencies, while the United States outright rejected it. Earlier this month, Governor General Mary Simon authorized Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand to accept the Amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR), adopted in Geneva on June 1, 2024. The decision was sealed through a routine Order in Council. That means that there was no parliamentary vote, no public consultation, and no meaningful provincial input. Canadians were simply informed after the fact. This stands in stark contrast to the American position where, under President Trump’s leadership, the U.S. rejected the amendments and withdrew funding from the WHO entirely earlier this year. These amendments were rushed through the World Health Assembly in May 2024, in spite of the fact that they’re not minor, technical tweaks. Instead, they serve to strengthen and entrench the WHO’s ability to declare emergencies, coordinate international responses, and pressure sovereign nations toward compliance with whatever they deem necessary. Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who praised China’s early COVID-19 response in a now-removed report, insists that the updates are merely about “cooperation and collaboration.” Yet several countries are hesitating, or walking away like the US has. Canada, as usual, is all in. With Bill Gates poised as one of the WHO’s largest donors following the US withdrawal, he has repeatedly called for military-style “virus war games” every five years to grade nations on their preparedness. Canadian government IHR overview even openly list “emergency preparedness and response exercises” as a core way Ottawa meets its IHR obligations. What began as optional simulations is being baked into the regular cycle of “global health security.” This is classic incrementalism: quiet, heavily bureaucratic, and loaded with sweeping implications. During COVID-19, WHO “recommendations” quickly became domestic mandates — lockdowns, mask rules, travel bans, and vaccine passports. Dissent was branded misinformation. Families were divided, livelihoods destroyed, and public trust shattered. The amended regulations grease the wheels for faster emergency declarations and tighter coordination with global actors, include pharmaceutical interests and mandated intelligence sharing, leaving Ottawa with less room to push back. The Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) annex could incentivize the hunt for deadly viruses, expand lab risks, and centralize global health power under the World Health Organization, warns Yale graduate Reggie Littlejohn, President of Anti-Globalist International. Despite Canada being a parliamentary democracy, none of these commitments were brought to the House of Commons for debate or a vote. Yet, Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada continue to champion “global health security,” all while leaving their own pandemic-era failures and outdated regulations unaddressed. Who, exactly, is guarding Canadian sovereignty and informed consent when the next declared emergency arrives? Tedros himself has made clear that questioning the official narrative will not be tolerated. We have lived this story once already. Locking in the framework for round two without transparency or democratic oversight is not prudent governance. Instead, it’s the normalization of the very overreach that eroded Canadian’s civil liberties the first time. It’s high time that the government commit to prioritizing local accountability over backroom commitments to unelected global bureaucracies funded by pharmaceutical interests.

Ottawa detective demoted following probe of sudden infant deaths after COVID vaccine rollout 💉 Defence lawyer calls the decision an assault on police discretion and the rule of law, warning that its implications could shape disciplinary cases for years to come. It was judgment day for Detective Helen Grus, after a four-year investigation and disciplinary tribunal. As a diligent detective, Grus used her discretion to look into a suspicious two- to three-fold surge in sudden infant deaths in Ottawa following the rollout of the modified RNA COVID-19 vaccines. She was ultimately sentenced to a 24-month demotion that comes with a significant salary loss. From first-class to second-class Constable, hearing officer Chris Renwick found her guilty of discreditable conduct for an “unauthorized probe clouded by her personal bias about vaccine injury or reactions” and improperly accessing the police records database. At the time of the probe, Grus was a detective in the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse unit, which is mandated by law to probe sudden deaths of children under five outside hospital settings. The penalty brings a significant pay cut on top of the financial losses she has already endured through years of these proceedings, including hefty legal fees. Her lawyer, Bath-Sheba van Den Berg, said that the penalty “goes to the absurdity of the discreditable charge itself, where there were multiple elements, and many of them which are nonsensical.” Van Den Berg called the decision itself “seriously wrong,” arguing that the Ottawa Police Service had shut down a potential criminal investigation into negligence surrounding a vaccine “that we know was not safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women.” She pointed to tribunal evidence of at least five babies who died in circumstances matching those listed in Pfizer’s own clinical data reports. Detective Grus herself remains unbowed. Addressing claims of a lack of responsibility or remorse, she said: “My message has remained the same. I swore an oath to protect the public, preserve life, preserve the peace. And I will continue to do that each and every day.” Van Den Berg emphasized that using lack of remorse against an officer who maintains her innocence is an error in law that dismantles fair process. “Every police officer should really be up in arms about this decision because now it’s going to be used as binding and as a leading case law for future police disciplinary processes.” Renwick’s ruling, she argued, sends a disturbing message: “He’s sending a message to all police officers. You no longer are autonomous. You no longer have discretion. And he’s sending a message to all people in this country that if there is a public safety concern that is born from the hands of the government, that there will be no accountability for the government. And fundamentally, that tells us that rule of law is dead here in Canada.” Supporters outside held signs and offered prayers. Grus thanked them, along with local, national, and international supporters: “I am blown away with all the support… Look to God… Treat each other with kindness, respect, compassion each and every day.” Grus confirmed an appeal is coming — against both the March 2025 liability decision and today’s penalty — along with an application for fresh evidence. Drawing on her background in international criminal law, van Den Berg reminded those gathered that justice can take decades: “How we get there is by you, the people, never giving up, always fighting and believing that the truth will come out and justice will be served.” Several babies died in a short span. Tim Hortons finally picks the right fight — but I'm still not coming back Pretending Harry Potter is now forbidden literature because its author refuses to embrace gender ideology is absurd. I have to admit something I never thought I'd say. Good for Tim Hortons. Not because of a new coffee. Not because they finally figured out how to make a decent breakfast sandwich again. And certainly not because they've earned back the loyalty of millions of Canadians they've spent years alienating by unemploying their children in favour of cheap foreign labour. No, this time they deserve credit because they refused to cave to the outrage mob. But I am suspicious of the motives. And I'll explain why in a minute. But first. The controversy. Tim Hortons is launching a Harry Potter promotion to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first film. It's exactly the kind of harmless, nostalgic marketing campaign that any normal company would dream up. Collectible merchandise. Special menu items. Trivia nights. A chance to win a trip to London. Sounds fun, right? Cute. Apparently not if you're a professional activist. Within hours, the online outrage machine was in full swing. Calls to boycott Tim Hortons. Social media branding the company "TERF-Hortons." Activists insisting that selling Harry Potter merchandise somehow amounts to endorsing hate. Because, of course, everything has to be political. The taxpayer-funded advocacy group Egale Canada even weighed in, scolding Tim Hortons for partnering with a franchise created by J.K. Rowling. According to them, Canada's self-appointed coffee chain isn't sufficiently reflecting the country's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Translation? You must submit to the approved ideology or face public shaming. Sorry crybabies, but some things are just about fun books and donuts. Then came the predictable parade of complaints. CBC highlighted employees who said they felt hurt by the promotion. I'm shocked they could find a Canadian one, so good for them. Trudeau-appointed Senator Kris Wells demanded Tim Hortons make Pride Timbits instead, calling the Harry Potter campaign "tone-deaf." Imagine being offended by a fictional wizard in a book. Here's the thing. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has never said transgender people shouldn't have rights. She has consistently argued something much simpler: biological sex exists, women deserve sex-based protections, and people shouldn't lose their jobs or reputations for saying so. You may agree with her or disagree with her. That's your right. But pretending Harry Potter is now forbidden literature because its author refuses to embrace gender ideology is absurd. Millions of Canadians grew up with these books. They just like Harry Potter. And for once, Tim Hortons seems to understand that. The company politely thanked everyone for their opinions and essentially said, "We're celebrating one of the world's most beloved franchises." End of story. That's exactly how corporations should respond. Not with another grovelling apology. Not with another diversity consultant. Not by firing up the corporate confession machine every time a few hundred people on X get angry. Just say, "No thanks," and "settle down, you online hysterics." It's refreshing. But here's where my applause ends. Because let's not pretend Tim Hortons suddenly became the good guys. This company spent years becoming the poster child for Canada's Temporary Foreign Worker program. While Canadian teenagers struggled to find summer jobs... While young adults sent out résumé after résumé... Tim Hortons locations across the country were repeatedly accused of relying on temporary foreign workers instead. That wasn't a made-up controversy. It was real. Conservatives weren't imagining it. Many Canadians felt betrayed watching the country's most iconic coffee chain prioritize access to foreign labour and lobbying for changes to temporary foreign work requirements while local workers were looking for opportunities. That did real damage to Tim Hortons' reputation. Deserved damage. Which makes me wonder if this culture-war fight isn't just a little convenient. Maybe someone in the marketing department realized they needed a win with conservative Canadians. Maybe they figured standing up to the woke mob would rebuild some goodwill. If that's what they're doing, it probably will work for some people. And to those people I say, fair enough. I can't believe I am saying this, but I genuinely applaud Tim Hortons for refusing to surrender to ideological crybullying. Corporate Canada desperately needs more backbone. We have spent years watching companies race to apologize for imaginary offences and then pay a shakedown to activist groups as an indulgence for their sins. Maybe this is the beginning of that ending. I hope so. But as for me? One good decision doesn't erase years of bad ones. Standing up to the gender activists doesn't undo the damage done through the abuse of the Temporary Foreign Worker program. You don't rebuild trust overnight. So yes, good on Tim Hortons for telling the tone police to take a hike. Good on them for refusing to let taxpayer-funded activists dictate what's acceptable to enjoy. But if they're hoping this Harry Potter promotion is enough to bring conservatives flooding back through the drive-thru... They're going to need more than a little magic.

Floorcrosser Marilyn Gladu nowhere to be found on Canada Day Marilyn Gladu once said that the whole point of being a member of Parliament is 'to represent your constituents' — and yet she got a clear mandate to represent them as a Conservative. No wonder she doesn't want to show her face. On July 1, Canada Day, speculation percolated in Sarnia, Ont.: Would Conservative-now-Liberal MP Marilyn Gladu show up for the parade? Spoiler alert: Gladu the turncoat was mercifully absent. In April, Gladu became the fifth floor-crosser to join the Mark Carney Liberals. But Gladu’s crossing was surely the most shocking. We say this because Gladu was perhaps the single most conservative MP in the entire Conservative Party. For example, she was openly pro-life and pushed to reopen the abortion debate. She unapologetically backed the truckers and the Freedom Convoy, and she was against the COVID-19 forced vaccinations and lockdowns. Gladu is (or was) the polar opposite of a Liberal. Gladu joining the Liberals would be akin to climate change kook Stephen Guilbeault joining the Conservatives. It’s that crazy. And talk about hypocrisy: Marilyn Gladu once said that the whole point of being a member of Parliament is “to represent your constituents.” In that regard, in the last federal election, the constituents of Sarnia-Lambton gave Gladu a clear mandate when she ran for re-election as a Conservative. Galdu captured 53.1% of the vote versus 37.9% for the Liberal candidate. Amazingly, Gladu recently voiced strong opinions about those MPs who decided to cross the floor. If such a thing happens, Gladu said, then voters “deserve a chance to have a redo.” But as the saying goes, that was then, and this is now. She is no longer keen on a “redo” byelection in her riding. Why? Because she’d likely lose in a landslide. And in the department of plenty of blame to go around, the Mark Carney Liberals seemingly have absolutely no problem welcoming Gladu into the fold, even though she is the sort of Conservative who would be mocked by the Liberals for her viewpoints. This is the same party that has a policy that blocks pro-life candidates from running under the Liberal banner. But yet again, that was then, and this is now as Mark Carney remains committed to getting that coveted majority government — a majority the Canadian electorate denied him in last year’s federal election (but seriously, who cares what the little people have to say?). So the Liberals will park their principles when it comes to Carney manufacturing the political equivalent of a hostile takeover. On July 1, we visited Sarnia to see if Gladu would indeed show up for the town’s Canada Day parade. Speculation was rife that she would attend as she always had in the past. Alas, it turned out that Gladu was a no-show. Imagine that: The sitting MP did not dare show her face in her own riding on July 1. Was it due to fear that the Sarnia Canada Day parade would turn into a modern-day version of Cersei’s “walk of shame” from Game of Thrones? We think so, given the understandable rage amongst constituents regarding her shocking betrayal…

'It was horrible to watch': Saskatchewan students speak out on explicit drag field trip The corrupt, lazy mainstream media sold Little Red Warrior and His Lawyer at the Globe Theatre as a 'trickster fable' to the public. If the permission slips that went home to Saskatchewan parents for an end-of-year field trip were accurate, they would have said: Do you give your permission for your child to attend a production that contains subject matter not appropriate for public consumption? The production included scenes depicting: -Explicit, sexually graphic content -Glorification of violence -Promotion of hatred against an identified group Explicitly sexualized themes, including simulations of intercourse, straddling, fisting, dry humping, grinding, extra marital affairs, threesomes, pregnancy as a result of the threesome, cuckholding, foot worship, bondage and dominance, erotic dancing, nymphomania and fetishism, pregnancy degradation, and implied physical child abuse of an infant -Objectification of women, including white women, female lawyers, Premier Danielle Smith and Queen Elizabeth II as deviant sexual objects Glorification of Binge drinking, roofying, and psychedelics -Anti-development, anti-oil, anti-western culture sentiments -But that's not what the permission slip said. Not even close. The corrupt, lazy mainstream media sold Little Red Warrior and His Lawyer at the Globe Theatre as a "trickster fable" to the public. Regina Public Schools and the Globe Theatre now blame each other while simultaneously claiming to have done nothing wrong. Now, as always, Rebel News is pleased to tell the other side of the story — including insights from five of the brightest, most thoughtful and engaged young people from Saskatchewan. They're a good sampling of the 400-some students from 14 classrooms who were exposed — without their or their parents' consent or knowledge — to the drag queen field trip. Although they're all 18, in order to safeguard their dignity and privacy — something Regina Public Schools couldn't manage — as well as due to the sensitivity of the subject matter, Rebel News has obscured their identities. What they and 395 of their classmates did was extraordinary. They turned what was supposed to be an innocent field trip into an international media event. Close to 400 brand new baby independent journalists were born that day; that's something to be proud of. They reveal everything. Not only do they lay waste to the official statements offered by Regina Public Schools and the Globe Theatre, but they add much-needed context to the 10-second drag queen video we all saw last week They were intelligent, intuitive, and thoughtful beyond their years, describing the field trip, the play and the worldwide attention as they experienced it.

Zahid issued an apology after the photo went viral, claiming she had not noticed the shirt and saying she “would never have agreed to such a photo if [she] had.” Najim fired back that she had noticed the shirt, that they had discussed it and Israel’s actions, and that she had nodded in agreement with him, implying that her apology was disingenuous. Najim asked people to come this week in honour of Daniela Bonamico, a local pro-Hamas activist who was detained and deported by Israel after trying to enter Gaza via a flotilla that departed from Italy. Channel 12 in Israel reported that two of the organizers of the flotilla were identified as Hamas operatives, making everyone on board collaborators with a terrorist organization. Several of the pro-Hamas crowd, along with a police escort, marched down the street to a local Tim Hortons. Pro-Israel and Jewish demonstrators were barred from the building as long as they were inside. Present among the pro-Hamas demonstrators present to welcome Bonamico back was Vancouver-based activist Farhood Moayed, known for outrageous antisemitic postings on X under the name “Kritical Kanadian.” All of these people should be subject to criminal charges for supporting designated terrorist organizations.
