Last week, I introduced a bill with Rep. Haley Stevens to prevent Elon Musk from accessing US citizens' private data. All it takes now is for three House Republicans to be willing to stand up to Donald Trump and Elon Musk and for the American people. As Thomas Paine said, the times have found us.

Resigning from Congress should not allow Members to avoid accountability for allegations as serious as those faced by Matt Gaetz. The Ethics Committee has often released reports on former Members. That's why I'm forcing a vote on the release of the Gaetz Report.

The allegations against Matt Gaetz are serious and credible. The House Ethics Committee has spent years conducting a thorough investigation to determine the truth. I introduced a privileged resolution to require a House vote on the release of the Gaetz report.

Before he joined the Trump Administration, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wrote that tariffs are inflationary. When he testified last month, I reminded him of his words. No matter how much he tries to deny it now, the president’s tariffs make life more expensive.

As far back as 1987, the Ethics Committee has released reports on Members of Congress who resigned to avoid accountability. Last week, House Republicans voted to upend this precedent, with Speaker Johnson declaring the matter "moot". The integrity of the House is not moot.

The president was convicted of falsifying business records. Now, as his wealth surges through crypto ventures, Republicans still can’t seem to answer whether sanctioned actors are funneling money through them. If this were a Democrat, Fox News would be running coverage and Republicans would already be demanding hearings. The silence says everything.

5 years ago, I was locked in my office after Donald Trump incited a violent insurrection in an attempt to overturn the results of a free and fair election. Congress passed a law to honor those who protected our democracy on January 6th by displaying a plaque in the Capitol recognizing their service. Speaker Johnson refuses to put the plaque up as he tries to rewrite history about what happened that day. I proudly display this plaque outside my office. Learn more:

It’s 4am and I’m at the Capitol. House Republicans are working in the middle of the night to pass their bill to strip millions of people of their health care and give Elon Musk and Donal Trump a tax cut. I’m here to testify in defense of my amendments to protect your access to cheap energy.

This morning, I attended arguments at the Supreme Court in the Trump Administration's case to fire Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve. To be clear, she did nothing wrong & the independence of the Federal Reserve must be maintained. But this case is about so much more than that.

Today, the Financial Services Committee considered legislation to block credit card companies from using a specific code to identify gun retailers. These codes are applied to nearly every other type of business. This bill is offensive, particularly in the wake of the tragic shootings over the weekend. It should be opposed by anyone who cares about preventing Americans from being shot.

For the first time in American history, SNAP funding will lapse on November 1. Nearly 2 million Illinoisans will have their food assistance benefits ripped away. This number includes veterans, children, and families. President Trump is choosing to let Americans starve.
