There is no “German Dream” or “French Dream.” There is no "Guatemalan Dream” or “Haitian Dream.” And it was never the “Somalian Dream.” It is the American Dream: the idea that anyone can realize success regardless of their circumstances, where race, sex, ethnicity, and background pose no barrier to harnessing someone’s full potential.

I had the pleasure of informing Christian, a high school senior from Gillette, of the news that he's been accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Each year, I have the honor of nominating highly qualified Wyoming students for appointment to our nation's Service Academies. It is one of the most rewarding parts of this job, and Christian is exactly the kind of young man we want wearing the uniform.
