Ending Temporary Protected Status for Haitians is cruel and reckless. This decision will tear families apart and deal a blow to South Florida’s economy. It will strip our nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and home health agencies of thousands of dedicated caregivers who look after our parents, grandparents, and loved ones every day. Our Haitian friends and neighbors work hard, pay taxes and care for our families. And now, many will be forced back to a country consumed by gang violence, political instability, hunger, and a humanitarian crisis—putting their lives at risk. Where is the humanity?
