What a beautiful way to honour one of your own ❤️ Australian rugby league star Jai Arrow was forced to retire at just 31 after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease three months ago, leaving him on 98 appearances for the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Yesterday, a special league exemption allowed him to suit up, lead out his teammates and register appearance number 99. In their next match, he will reach 100. I know how much those milestones mean. Fans see a statistic, but a player sees every training session, injury, sacrifice and person who helped them get there. We cannot always change what someone we care about is facing. This is what “rain or shine” really looks like 🌧️👏 At 71 years old, Wendy Alexis powered through the rain to win the Women’s 70–74 200m national title at the Canadian Masters Athletics Championships 🇨🇦🏅 Watching her compete in those conditions reminded me of something football teaches you very quickly: you rarely get the perfect pitch, weather or moment. Once the whistle goes, you adapt and get on with the job. That ability to adapt matters throughout life because the conditions change as we get older too... The goal may change, and so might the way you prepare, yet society is often too quick to treat age as a reason to lower expectations before someone has tested what they can still do. Most of us aren’t chasing national titles, but we all have moments when an excuse feels easier than starting. Keep testing what’s possible. Family first, football second 🧡 On Thursday, Robin van Persie’s 19-year-old son Shaqueel suffered a serious knee injury after coming on for Feyenoord in the Europa League. It happened just days after scoring his first senior goal 😔 What stood out to me is how Robin (now Feyenoord manager) went onto the pitch to kneel beside his son as he was stretchered off 🥹 In football, injuries can make it feel like the world around you is crumbling… Your body stops, but your mind races; one moment things are moving forward, the next you’re dealing with questions you didn’t expect to face. Robin knows that feeling all too well. Lowering the stretcher may seem like a small thing, but in that moment it would have meant the world to his son - a father choosing presence over everything else. 20 years in football teaches you a lot about the unwritten rules of the game... And one of them is how you treat the people who came before you 👀 I came across this footage of players and staff leaving through the tunnel after Arsenal's win over Chelsea. Standing there were Freddie Ljungberg and Emmanuel Petit - two Arsenal legends who won the lot and helped shape one of the club's greatest eras 👏 And almost nobody acknowledges them. Not after a win, not on their own patch, nothing. But Declan Rice was the one exception, and honestly, it was great to see. The way he took a moment to acknowledge two men who helped build that club says a lot about his character!!! Football has a short memory, and I get that. But the culture lives in the small moments just as much as the big ones. It costs absolutely nothing - a nod, a handshake, two seconds of your time. Marathon season just brings something different out of people ❤️ At the Berlin Marathon, a runner’s shoe was falling apart mid-race… and a spectator watching from the side stepped in and handed over their own trainer so they could carry on 👏 What a moment. The bit that sticks with me isn’t just the act… it’s how quickly it happened. Thousands of people saw the same thing. Most kept watching. One person decided to step in 🥹 Seeing something unfold and choosing to get involved, rather than assuming someone else will. This video gets better with every second 🥹 Ahead of Santos’ match against Mirassol, a young mascot couldn’t hold back the tears at being so close to Neymar. Brazão spots what is happening and guides her over. Neymar puts his arm around her, and she immediately wraps both arms around her hero ❤️ I’ve walked out alongside enough mascots to know that what feels like another matchday to a player can be one of the biggest moments of a child’s life. That’s why I love that neither player lets this one pass them by!! It's not about fame... it’s about paying attention. The passion behind every word will make this stick for years 👏 I came across this incredible inspirational talk that football coach Joshua Paul gave his U11 players, and HAD to share it!! At every stage of life, it’s easy to let ourselves be pulled down by negativity. We tend to internalise other people’s issues, rather than taking a step back and asking, “is this really my problem?” 🤔 Positivity is always an answer even when the question is the opposite. What you do before kick-off says everything 👀 First clip: Chelsea players arriving at Hull, walking past the Wolves mascots lined up to greet them. Don’t get me wrong… I understand focus, and have been in dressing rooms where you’re locked in. But these are kids who’ve probably counted down the days for that moment. A smile, a quick high five, a simple “how you doing?” It genuinely takes seconds 🤷♂️ Then the next clip: José Mourinho going down the line before a game, high-fiving mascots from both teams. It’s not a big performance, it’s basic respect. Those kids and their families are the foundation of the sport - they’re the ones buying the shirts, travelling home and away, saving up for those matchday experiences. Because long after the final whistle, it’s these gestures that people remember!! Not a good look for Chelsea 🫣

Last night’s game honestly had me on the edge of my seat, but seeing this clip afterwards was football at its most human 🥺 Gabriel Magalhães was in bits after his penalty miss cost Arsenal the Champions League, but Marquinhos went straight over to comfort him. That reaction said so much… Marquinhos knows that pain himself from missing in Brazil’s shootout defeat in Qatar - he's all too familiar with how heavy that walk back feels 😔 In that moment, was one Brazil teammate recognising the heartbreak another was carrying. I’ve stood in stadiums where the noise makes your chest vibrate ⚡️ But yesterday, Anfield proved something even more powerful… Carlsberg and Liverpool FC partnered with the British Deaf Association to teach fans how to perform ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ in British Sign Language. For the first time, the anthem wasn’t just heard - it was seen 🥹 And the campaign hasn’t stopped there!! Bar staff at Anfield are being trained in basic sign language. Fan bars and pubs across the world are following suit, including teams at 16 Greene King Sport pubs across Merseyside 👏 Too often, we talk about atmosphere as volume. But what about belonging? Caught red handed 👀 During Wolves vs Newcastle last month, a young fan called Rory went viral after his dad was caught on camera pinching one of his chicken nuggets 🤣🥹 So Wolves decided to suprise Rory in the stands with a fresh box of nuggets and some club merch, hand-delivered by the club mascot himself!! Completely unnecessary. Absolutely brilliant 👏 Despite being at the bottom of the table - with plenty of pressure on and far bigger things to worry about - the club still took a moment to make a young fan smile. Football can be SO intense. Every now and then, it’s good to remember it can also just be ‘human’ 🧡 And for the record… Never come between a kid and their snacks 😄 (🎥: wolves)

This is something I HAD to jump on 👀 There’s a trend doing the rounds calling ‘2026 the new 2016’ - a nod to a time people remember as lighter, simpler, more optimistic. For me, that year is frozen in one tournament 🫡🏴 EURO 2016 didn’t start smoothly - I went into it as an injury doubt and began on the bench. Then football did what it always does and turned the script without warning 😅 I came on, scored the winner against Slovakia, and the whole tournament felt different from that point on. Days later, we faced Belgium in the quarter-final. I started up front, we played without fear, and that night became part of our history 😉 It’s a reminder I come back to often: progress doesn’t always look like a straight line. Setbacks don’t mean you’re out of the picture… they’re often just the pause before the game opens up. Stay ready. Things can turn quicker than you think ⚡️

Sometimes, the most powerful moves are the simplest 🤷♂️ When I first joined the Wales squad, Gary Speed gathered us together and told us we came from different backgrounds, but when we wore that shirt, we were one team. So one thing we all needed to do was sing the national anthem. Together, with passion 🏴 The truth? Many of us didn’t even know the words at the time (myself included)… I remember sitting in a hotel room with Neil Taylor, him patiently teaching me line by line until I got it right 😅 But it was about everyone buying into something bigger than themselves. And it worked!! That bond forged resilience and helped us achieve things people didn’t think were possible 😉 Plus, it taught me something that I carry with me today - a great leader finds ways to make EVERYONE feel part of the same mission. For us, it started with an anthem. For you, it might be something else. But the principle is the same: unity creates possibility 💫
