Communism never took root in Japan. Because on this day in 1960, a 17 year old ultranationalist stabbed Japan’s top socialist on live TV for trying to pull the country into Mao’s orbit. Before the attack, Asanuma had gone to Beijing in 1959, while the Great Leap was already starving millions, and called America the shared enemy of Chinese and Japanese. That summer, his party helped lead the riots that forced Eisenhower to cancel his visit. When he took the stage at Hibiya Hall he was the face of the movement to scrap the security treaty. After the stabbing, the treaty stayed in force, Japan became one of Washington’s closest allies, and the regime Asanuma courted is still the threat Tokyo arms itself against.

As a young socialist, Hayek read Ludwig von Mises’ 1920 paper “Economic Calculation in the Socialist Commonwealth.” Mises showed that socialist central planning isn’t merely inefficient, it’s impossible. Without private property and genuine market prices, planners lack any rational way to allocate scarce resources or determine real costs and needs. Even Oskar Lange, a leading socialist in the calculation debate, effectively conceded the point. While he promoted “market socialism” with trial-and-error pricing by a central board, real-world socialist planners in Eastern Europe quietly relied on world capitalist market prices as a guide. Without external free-market price signals, pure socialism would be economically blind and coordination would collapse. Mises went further, arguing that interventionism, the “middle way” of government meddling, is inherently unstable. Each intervention creates problems that invite more interventions, eventually leading to full socialization. Price controls cause shortages, subsidies distort production, and the cycle continues until the economy is fully planned. The lesson is clear. Rational economics requires genuine market prices emerging from voluntary exchange and private property. Half-measures don’t stabilize the system. They accelerate the drift into central planning. The Austrian School understood this decades before the collapse of the Soviet bloc proved it in practice.

Karl Marx dumped his bastard on Engels and kept writing the workers’ manifesto. When the housekeeper got pregnant in 1851 he refused to claim the boy, so Engels took the paternity hit while Marx stayed in London drafting class theory. After that, Engels spent three decades running a Manchester cotton mill, the exact kind of factory Marx called the engine of exploitation, to cover Marx’s rent, debts, and the funerals of 3 of his 6 children who died young. Before he ever finished Capital, he had already refused regular work for decades, never set foot in a factory himself, and relied on government reports plus Engels’s observations. In private letters, he ranked people by race and called a rival a “Jewish nigger”. He died with only volume one published. The unfinished notes became the doctrine later politicians still run on.

Three Mile Island produced zero deaths, a chest X-ray dose, and a 30 freeze on new American reactors. A stuck valve and a misread gauge caused a partial meltdown on March 28, 1979. “The China Syndrome”, a movie about a cover up at a nuclear plant, released in theaters 12 days earlier, so newsrooms had a field day with this one. While Thornburgh advised pregnant women and small children only inside a five mile radius, national coverage turned it into a regional evacuation. Panic eased when Carter walked the control room 4 days later, but the damage was done. Columbia’s 1990 study of 32,000 nearby residents found no significant cancer increase. Nuclear stayed one of the safest energy sources ever measured. But the movie and the headlines didn’t allow a return to normalcy.

East Germany failed to “guarantee” a car for every citizen, but it succeeded in (1) proving central planners can’t innovate and (2) replicating the breadline model to everything they touch. Because steel was never available for private citizens, the “Trabant” automobile was made out of Duroplast pressed over cotton waste and scrap. >same timeless design for 30 years >super innovative 23-horsepower two-stroke engine >no oil pump so people had to mix oil into the tank by hand at every fill up because labor itself is a worthy end And people still had to wait 10-13 years on a waitlist. 40 years by the late 1980s. So the government did in fact “guarantee” a car for every citizen. Just not that it wouldn’t be shit. Or that they’d ever get one.

Ambani runs India’s internet policy. When Starlink won the telecom license and space approval last year, the government still refused to let it sell a single subscription. Before that, Jio lobbied hard to force an auction that would slow any outsider. And after 4 years of paperwork, Musk called out the oligarch and asked if Ambani is the real boss of India. The ministry insists the process is fair and that no monopolies are allowed, yet the world’s biggest telecom still blocks the only system that can reach the villages its own towers will never cover. Starlink already serves Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan. India remains closed.

Every gun, mine, and guard tower on the Berlin Wall was pointed at East Germans. In 1957, the communist regime in East Germany made unauthorized emigration treason after an estimated 2.5 million people voted with their feet, fleeing the communist East towards the West. So in 1961, the authorities closed the border, called the wall “the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart”, and gave border guards shoot to kill orders. People only ever risked their lives escaping in one direction.

Not poverty. Not “cultural misunderstanding”. Not random crime by “Asians”. This was muslim men operating with a clear religious and racial ideology. White non-Muslim girls were “slags”, “trash”, and “kuffar whores”, fair game for grooming, gang rape, trafficking, and beatings. Muslim girls were “pure”. White girls deserved it. Some perpetrators quoted scripture and framed their actions as religiously justified superiority over infidels. When the government repeatedly sides with the ideological rapists over its own children, when it betrays fathers and communities trying to protect their daughters, don’t act shocked when people lose faith in the system and take matters into their own hands. This is demographic and cultural conquest. An existential attack on Britain enabled by the very people sworn to defend it. The absolutely filthy anti-white, anti-Christian racist Mehdi Hasan calls the Casey report and the whole push for truth “bullshit.” The rapists’ own words in court and the girls they destroyed say otherwise. Denial this loud only confirms who’s still protecting the narrative and why.

10 people died in the DC sniper attacks after immigration officials released an illegal Jamaican teenager that Border Patrol had already flagged for deportation in 2001. When agents arrested Lee Boyd Malvo and his mother in Bellingham, they recommended he stay locked up pending removal. Instead, the Seattle INS office cut him loose on a $1,500 bond in January 2002, after which he linked up with John Allen Muhammad and the pair spent the next 9 months preparing the modified Caprice they used to kill from the trunk. Muhammad was executed in 2009. Malvo, 17 at the time of the shootings, received life sentences in Virginia and Maryland and has spent years litigating to cut them. Maryland’s highest court refused his latest appeal in August 2026.

Britain is putting a woman on trial next week for praying silently inside her own head. If you still had any doubts about how much of a joke modern Britain has become. In 2022, Isabel Vaughan-Spruce stood on a public street near a clinic and prayed silently. West Midlands Police arrested her after she said she “might be praying in my head” outside a CLOSED Birmingham clinic. They sent 6 officers weeks later and told her on camera the prayer itself was the offence. Prosecutors brought no evidence the first time and dropped the second. West Midlands Police ended up paying her £13,000. Parliament answered by banning “influencing” anyone within 150 metres of a clinic and charging her first case under the new law. VP JD Vance at the Munich conference last year said free speech is in retreat in reference to these silent prayer cases. Trial starts October 6.

So here’s how America ended up with Ilhan Omar and Learing Centers. The rebels in Somalia overthrew the Marxist dictator in January 1991 and then they started killing each other over who got to rule next. General Mohamed Farah Aideed and Ali Mahdi Mohamed both claimed the presidency, and then from November 1991 to March 1992, the two sides slaughtered an estimated 14,000 people in Mogadishu (the capital) alone. The clans united to remove Barre, but they failed to replace him with anything functional. And so, Somalia has been a failed state for 35 years and Minnesota has welfare fraud.

An 18 year old widow with a baby had to kill the man breaking in after 21 minutes on 911 and no cop in sight on New Year’s Eve 2011. Her husband died of cancer on Christmas Day. Before that night, Justin Martin showed up claiming to be a neighbor and she refused him. When he returned with Dustin Stewart, she barricaded the door, grabbed a 12-gauge, and called. The dispatcher told her she couldn’t say she was allowed to shoot but to protect her baby. After Martin kicked his way in she killed him with one blast. Stewart fled and got charged with first degree murder. Prosecutors ruled it self defense. When the seconds ran out, the shotgun was the only thing between her son and the knife.

Civilizations die from suicide. After spending 3 decades studying 26 civilizations, Toynbee found that civilizations rise when a creative minority actually solves hard problems and earns real loyalty from the people. Then that same minority hardens into a dominant minority that keeps power through force and habit while it stops actually leading. The majority disengages and a schism opens in the body social. External threats only finish what already started from inside. No invading army ever killed a healthy civilization, they only bury the ones that have already stopped believing in themselves.

Oberlin College spent 6 years and $36 million arguing that catching a thief is racism. 3 students pled guilty to stealing from Gibson’s Bakery in 2016. The dean handed out flyers calling the 1885 family bakery a racist shop with a long record of racial profiling, after which the college cut its contracts and condemned it. The Gibsons sued. While Oberlin called the flyers “student speech,” the jury disagreed, awarded $44 million, Ohio cut it to $36.5 million, and the school paid after losing its appeals in 2022. The patriarch died before the verdict. A billion dollar college treated a neighborhood bakery as a political enemy for enforcing the law.

They smashed babies against trees and murdered nearly 2 million Cambodians in under 4 years chasing a pure agrarian communist utopia with no cities, no money, and no private property. On April 17 1975, the Khmer Rouge rolled into Phnom Penh and within hours emptied the entire city, marching hospital patients and the elderly into the countryside on foot as they declared Year Zero and set out to erase every trace of the old society. Anyone tied to the past became a target and wearing glasses alone could get you killed because it proved you could read, while doctors, teachers, engineers, and monks were executed as enemies of the revolution. They turned a high school into a prison where roughly 20,000 people were tortured into confessing crimes that never happened, after which they were trucked to mass graves in the killing fields where executioners smashed infants against the killing tree to save bullets. But they never achieved a classless utopia so it wasn’t like real communism.

“Why are you demanding so much censorship in Brazil?” A supreme court justice answered that question with a criminal case, then cut X off for more than 20 million people. Moraes had been sending sealed takedown orders and threatening to jail X’s Brazilian lawyer unless the company complied in secret, so Musk closed the local office to keep his staff out of custody. Moraes used that closure to block the whole platform on August 30, 2024. He also fined anyone caught on a VPN 50,000 reais a day and froze Starlink’s bank accounts, a separate company, to collect X’s penalties. The ban lasted 39 days and lifted only after X paid about 28.6 million reais. The US Treasury later sanctioned him under the Magnitsky Act, lifted it that December, and by August 2026 was weighing new ones.

Chomsky wrote off a live genocide as a fabrication while the killing was still underway. In 1977, with Pol Pot still in power, he wrote in The Nation that refugee accounts of Khmer Rouge executions were fabrications built to discredit the left. Before the regime fell in 1979, about 1.7 million people, nearly a quarter of Cambodia, were dead from execution, starvation, and disease. After that, he and Edward Herman treated survivor testimony as inherently unreliable and blamed Western journalists for inflating the violence to justify American intervention. They accused François Ponchaud of revising his death toll upward for political effect. He denied it but Chomsky never retracted. When Vietnam’s invasion made the atrocities undeniable, he recast it as a methods critique. The 1977 piece had already used “fabrication” and “conscious restructuring of history” for the mainstream accounts. That same move is still the default on Xinjiang, Venezuela, and Cuba. The method outlived the dead.
