This is the difference between calling plays for Tua Tagovailoa and calling plays for Justin Herbert. Mike McDaniel is literally laughing at what he’s seeing because he knows the playbook just got a whole lot bigger. With Herbert, throws that require scheming around limitations suddenly become routine. Night and day difference.

The irony of this Nick Wright clip is almost too perfect. Nick says he’s “stunned by the media” for hyping the Chargers because he sees the holes himself: he doesn’t love the receivers, the interior OL is dealing with injuries, and he doesn’t think the defense is dominant. Okay. But then he says when the Chargers inevitably fall short, he expects everyone to “make excuses” for Herbert by pointing out those exact same roster deficiencies. Do you see the problem? Nick just spent the first half of the argument explaining why it would be difficult for the Chargers to succeed, and then wants to blame Herbert when they don’t. In fact, by Nick’s own description, Herbert getting this team to the playoffs in the first place should be evidence of how much he’s overcoming. You can’t simultaneously argue, “Here are all the reasons this roster isn’t good enough to win,” and then say, “Watch how they’re going to use those reasons to unfairly exonerate Herbert when they don’t win.” That isn’t exposing an excuse. That’s describing the context yourself and then refusing to let the context count.

The idea that JJ McCarthy and a 1st could land you Justin Herbert isn’t just unrealistic — it’s fairy-tale delusion. The Chargers aren’t trading a Ferrari for a plastic tricycle. There is zero chance — not “low chance” or even “unlikely”, but literally zero — that the Chargers pick up the phone for that. This is one of those takes where you don’t even know where to start correcting it because the foundation is made of wet cardboard and wishful thinking. At this point, Nick’s trade ideas are impossible to take seriously.

I dragged myself through every painful minute of the Chargers All-22, hoping it couldn't possibly be as bad as it seemed — and yet, it was worse. Here's a 60 second glimpse. I have no idea how Justin Herbert survived such an abysmal performance by his O-line. It genuinely may be the worst O-line film I have seen in my lifetime.

Patrick Mahomes borrowed Justin Herbert’s offensive line for two weeks and suddenly discovered gravity.

Either my timeline algorithm is off, or the Lamar Jackson situation just didn’t get the attention it truly deserves. I hope for the sake of Lamar & Ravens fans that this ages like milk, and we find out there was more to it than just a boo-boo keeping him off the field with the season on the line.

..."I wanna make coach Harbaugh proud..." - Herbert. This is the 2nd time this week I have heard Justin Herbert mention/reference making Jim Harbaugh proud. Over time, their relationship has grown from player & coach to true collaborators. It's awesome to see & easy to root for.
