Today in Missouri, alongside Vice President JD Vance, Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel, and dozens of federal and state partners, the SBA announced it has suspended 870,000 PPP and COVID EIDL borrowers tied to about $39 billion in suspected pandemic fraud – in our largest fraud announcement to date. In close coordination with White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, it’s the culmination of our state-by-state effort to identify and expose those who stole from small businesses during the pandemic. Now, our focus shifts to clawing back those funds for the American people with Treasury Department, including through demand letters going out across the country, and working closely with U.S. Department of Justice to ensure fraudsters face the full measure of justice. Over the last six years, small businesses endured a global pandemic, watched Main Street relief programs fall prey to widespread abuse, and saw the Biden Administration look the other way – or attempt to wipe the slate clean through loan forgiveness. Now, thanks to President Donald J. Trump, hardworking taxpayers are finally getting the accountability they deserve.
