Tributes to Janaki Amma. 🙏 In 2013, she declined the Padma Bhushan. She publicly stated that the recognition came far too late in her career and that she instead deserved the Bharat Ratna. After her husband, V. Ramaprasad, passed away in 1997, she chose to strictly wear plain white sarees for the remainder of her life. This iconic Telugu song "Govullu Tellana" from the classic film Saptapadi (1981) features brilliant lyricism and vocal performances. .S. Janaki used her masterful voice modulation to sound exactly like a little boy. Her incredible vocal transformation was so convincing that many listeners genuinely believed a real child had recorded the track. She also sings for the boy in the song in another distinct voice. Poonam is a 1981 movie directed by Harmesh Malhotra starring Poonam Dhillon and Raj Babbar. The film served as the first major break for music director Anu Malik, as well as director Harmesh Malhotra. Poonam Dhillon was initially unhappy with the movie's title because it shared her real name. She requested the director to change it, but he only agreed under the condition that she could find a better title. This Rafi , Chandrani Mukherjee duet is credited to Hasrat.
