The statements of the CEO and other management staff were taken and granted bail. However, two persons remain in custody. The company has distanced itself from these persons, according to NACOC Deputy Director.

Set up youth teams. Got the country’s biggest Telcom to sponsor the league. Player salaries fixed. By 2014, they won their first away game in history, beating Liberia. They used €10m FIFA Goal Project funds and renovated their national stadium. Build an ultra modern Headquarters. Built a Training Complex with hotel rooms and TV/Radio studio. Camped U-15 team in the complex and started a youth development program. On his tour of Africa, FIFA Prez Infantino praised Mauritania as one of the few African countries with proper accountability of the FIFA funds. By 2019, they qualified for their first AFCON. 2021, qualified for the second AFCON the squad including some of the Youth players they developed from 2015. In 2023, qualified for third AFCON. Today, they won their first AFCON game, beating almighty Algeria. During a fire fighting operation at Techiman Market, it was discovered that, there was a fire hydrant that had been built over 50 years ago with abundant underground water to assist such a fire fighting activity. However, someone had constructed a container shop on the hydrant and tiled the whole hydrant. It had to be dug before officers could access water.

This is not supposed to be funny but I can’t help it. The man here is not a journalist and not an ordinary football fan. He’s the Deputy Sports Minister of Ghana. After the Ghana Olympic Team got whipped 5-1 by Morocco, he was taken on a tour of the Morocco Football Complex. He’s been dismayed and sobered. Says the Moroccans have made him understand that all the artificial pitches being laid in Ghana are of the lowest grade and out-of-date.
