This is why I’m thinking of straying away from Shopify. They recently changed how they handle chargebacks and we have lost like every single one since. I’ve also never had so many chargebacks since opening up, than I have within the last year. I’m sitting in 4 totaling over $4500. Thankfully 2 were pre orders(btw it’s fraud if you open chargebacks on pre orders with a defined shipping date), the other 2 we recovered the items before they reached the scammers. I had a customer essentially do this exact same thing with 2 of their packages, as this guys chargeback. You could clearly tell they opened it, put books inside, retaped it, and tried to scam us. We use special tape which sort of helps with knowing ours were tampered. They won one, but lost the other case. Yet both were the exact same for both of their packages. We submitted the same exact evidence photos and everything. Weird how one is lost and the other won. I recommend filing an IC3 with the FBI for ALL chargebacks. These people get away with it too easily because no one does anything. Stores just chalk it up and call it a day. IMO that’s just enabling them to do it more.
