1,000 Days. 1,000 days have passed since the October 7 massacre. The atrocities committed that day targeted Jews simply because they were Jews. It was an act of terrorism fueled by hatred. I was born in the Middle East. I know how terrorist organizations think because I grew up around the lies and propaganda that help create them. For generations, many people were taught that Jews are the enemy and that Israel has no legitimate place in the region, while historical facts and Jewish ties to the land were ignored or denied. Innocent Palestinians deserve peace, dignity, and a better future. But lasting peace is impossible as long as terrorist organizations and violent extremist ideologies continue to dominate, glorify violence, and reject coexistence. Whether people like it or not, terrorism cannot be excused or justified. From everything I have seen and lived through, terrorist groups do not view negotiations, ceasefires, or concessions as a path to peace, they often see them as opportunities to regroup. Any lasting solution must ensure that those who deliberately target civilians can no longer do so. One thousand days later, we must continue to stand with the victims of October 7, with innocent civilians on every side, and with the principle that no one should be targeted because of their religion or ethnicity. If someone attacks Jews because they are Jewish, that hatred must be confronted without hesitation. Silence in the face of antisemitism and terrorism is not neutrality. We must have the courage to speak out, reject hatred, and stand for peace, security, and human dignity.
