Before steam engines were used in 1863, slate was transported down from the mines in Blaenau Ffestiniog to the port by gravity trains. Today the railway runs occasional gravity trains for fun. One such train has just gone past our house. (PS. This is not today’s event that I am beyond excited about 🤣)

I heard the crossing keeper closing the gates just now so thought I’d make an effort and walk up the lane a little way to catch the train. Unfortunately it was a down train which is never quite as spectacular as the up train. Never mind, maybe next time 🚂

My aunt’s garden is amazing. She and my uncle, who are in their 70s, have only lived here for 6 years and have created this from a bare rectangular patch of grass. I think they should be on Gardeners World #GardenersWorld
