The media is simply harassing Ayush Malik. They are asking absurd questions such as, “Whom would you choose: your mother or Islam?” and “If your mother’s dying wish was for you to leave Islam, would you do it?” They are trying to guilt-trip and emotionally blackmail Ayush into leaving Islam. Credit to Ayush for handling these questions sensibly and refusing to make the kind of statements they seem eager to turn into headlines.

This is Saleh Al-Talib, Imam of Mecca. He was arrested in 2018 for delivering a Khutbah criticizing government reforms that promoted social liberalization, such as entertainment events and mixed-gender gatherings. He was released in September 2025 and is currently under house arrest.
