When I see Irene Sprague, I see the 16-year-old who during World War II wanted to do her part and left not only the farm she grew up on, but the only state she had ever known. She gave me two quilts to bring to Washington—one for President Donald J. Trump and one for Vice President JD Vance. In return, President Trump gave Irene a red hat with a note that said, “Irene, I love you.” She’s an American icon, a hero, and an inspiration. Her life is a testimony to the greatness of her generation, the goodness of God, the faithfulness and patriotism of Americans, and the optimism we all need to carry forward as we ask ourselves what we can do for our country.

Iran is a regime that can't be trusted, and it’s certainly demonstrating that right now. If Operation Midnight Hammer didn’t convince the Ayatollah that President Donald J. Trump is serious, then additional measures may be necessary. The only realistic way to enforce any nuclear agreement would be through a very transparent process. Even then, it’s hard to imagine the Iranian regime becoming part of the civilized world, given that it remains controlled by religious zealots—a reality we cannot afford to ignore.

The Clarity Act is getting clearer as each issue is dealt with. There’s some agreement now on the ethics language that has been negotiated, giving U.S. Department of Justice power to be the enforcer rather than different state attorneys general. I think we’re almost there.

The Republican-passed WFTC not only lowers tax rates, provides more deductions and credits, and incentivizes small businesses to invest and hire. It enhances 529 education savings accounts, establishes savings accounts for newborns, and creates new school choice tax credits. You can't expect the partisan Trump haters at the Forum to tell you about the many accomplishments of the WFTC for North Dakotans.
