Last night, President Trump was back to tweeting about me. This time it wasn't about his efforts to criminally indict me, but my work to stop his Administration from curbing our right to vote by mail. He is obsessed with pushing misinformation about America's elections because he fears he's going to lose in November. It's all part of a well-worn authoritarian playbook and the intimidation is the point. But in our 250th year, I can't think of anything more important than standing up for our democracy and our right to vote.

The estimated $200 billion we’ve spent on the war in Iran could have paid for everyone on Medicare to get free dental, vision, and hearing care for six years. It could have paid for a check to every American household for $1,500. It could do school lunches for all kids for 18 years. We are back in a full scale war, and it’s important we understand its consequences.

At the State of the Union, President Trump declared that the only way Democrats could win in the midterms is if they cheat. Since then, he has attempted to seize ballots, sued 30 states for their voter rolls, dismantled the Election Assistance Commission, and pushed to pass the SAVE Act which would disenfranchise millions of voters across the country. We cannot allow this type of corruption to become normalized.

The President is clearly focused on a handful of states that he says have problems in our elections, including Michigan. Michigan has free and fair elections. We are a swing state.
