The protest in Turbat against the closure of roads in the name of VIP protocol and the harassment of doctors and other employees exposes the manufactured narrative of peace being projected from Balochistan. State security forces repeatedly bring TikTokers from Pakistan to Turbat, surround them with an overwhelming security apparatus, restrict their movement and facilitate staged content designed to present a false image of normalcy, peace and development. This is a deliberate colonial tactic, tightly control a colonized land, suppress the reality experienced by its people and then manufacture an artificial spectacle for public consumption. What is presented to the camera is not the reality of Turbat, it is a carefully managed performance designed to conceal repression. The reality is that Baloch civilians continue to face enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, intimidation, militarization and systematic restrictions, while state backed death squads operate with impunity. Doctors, employees and ordinary residents are subjected to harassment and restrictions in their own city, while outsiders are escorted through streets cleared and secured for their convenience. A city cannot be called peaceful when its colonized people are denied basic freedom while a manufactured version of peace is performed for visitors and cameras. No amount of state propaganda, security protocol or staged social media content can conceal the coercion, repression and colonial control imposed on the people of Balochistan.

I strongly condemn the horrific acid attack on Dr. Mahnoor a surgery resident at Civil Hospital Quetta, while she was performing her professional duties. This barbaric act of violence is not only an attack on an individual healthcare worker but also an assault on human dignity, the medical profession and the fundamental values of a civilized society. As a result of the attack, Dr. Mahnoor sustained critical burn injuries involving most of her facial region and upper limbs along with severe bilateral corneal damage that places her eyesight at serious risk. Due to the gravity of her condition she has been transferred to Karachi for specialized treatment and advanced medical care. Acid attacks constitute one of the most brutal forms of physical violence leaving survivors with devastating and often lifelong physical, psychological and emotional consequences. The targeting of a doctor dedicated to serving patients and saving lives is a grave crime that demands an uncompromising response from the state and society alike. I call upon the relevant authorities to conduct an immediate, transparent and thorough investigation and to ensure that justice is neither delayed nor denied. Equally important is the provision of comprehensive medical, legal and psychosocial support for Dr. Mahnoor throughout her recovery. We stand in solidarity with Dr. Mahnoor, her family, colleagues and the wider medical community. Violence against healthcare professionals must never be tolerated, normalized or met with impunity. Those who dedicate their lives to caring for others deserve protection, dignity and justice.

It has been 11 years since Rafiq Oman, a teacher (headmaster) and a Baloch singer, was forcibly detained and kept in unknown whereabouts. On this day, September 21, in 2014, he was abducted by personnel of the law enforcement agencies when he was on his way to Turbat city from Bal Negwar for a school students’ registration issue – and then he never returned home. His family has given their everything in his search, but all in vain. Keeping teachers detained illegally and without giving them a proper chance to appear and fight their case before a formal court of law is tantamount to state’s direct attempt to curb intellectual growth of the society. Rafiq Oman is only a teacher and a promoter of the Balochi music industry, but is facing illegal detention without a due course of law. On the occasion of completion of 11 years of Rafiq’s illegal detention, I urge the people to join the #X_Campaign called by his family tonight from 6 in the evening to 12 in the night using the hashtags #ReleaseRafiqOman and #SaveRafiqOman. Because Master Rafiq is a national asset and gave his everything to the Baloch society, it becomes our collective duty to stand for him and become his voice and hope. #ReleaseRafiqOman #EndEnforcedDisappearances

I condemn the tragic killing of Zakriya Baloch, a former victim of enforced disappearance, Sadly, Zakriya's fate is not an isolated incident. Many Baloch victims of enforced disappearances have faced similar brutal ends. The Baloch people have faced decades of systemic oppression, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings. This is a stark reminder of the Baloch genocidal policy perpetuated by the state, which is absolutely unacceptable! As a nation, we must come together to resist and condemn such inhumane policies on practical grounds. Our martyrs will never be forgotten; we bury them with dignity and respect, honored by the entire nation. #StopBalochGenocide
