I built my own graphics library and got a whole map of my city onto a device with only 64kb of free RAM using my own rendering method written entirely in C & assembly, and a converter that take GeoJSON files and compresses them - this one went from 5mb to 34kb in my proprietary binary format, uses linedraw vector rendering to keep the entire memory buffer at only 8kb of RAM whilst tiling larger maps In short Screw google, aint no reason maps needs to be gigabytes of RAM to use

Fully seated & housed in the case - the only reason the i/o shield is off is because I'm waiting for a water resistant mount to arrive. But yes. It works, and the squish fits.

Some more insights: - I built this using a machine with 4gb of DDR3 and a Pentium CPU - total board costs are less than <£6 - input buttons are pulled from a DVD player from ~2004 - the leather case is boiled & hardened, once upon a time it was an Italian Sofa

this has taken a day to get to work properly, and the system is universal (if Disney wouldn't sue me I'd do the obvious thing) it works exactly as intended (gateway/portal to/from multiplayer lobbies, and rearming). Can even turn the engines off for free travel.

I have added the keypad, & added hardware input (again, finally). Small things like wiring those LEDs up & screwing the I/O shield back in aee about all that remains. It is 3:15am, I must sleep

Detroit Map, with Labels, 'High Detail' features. From ~57mb to 440kb, whilst keeping labels intact. Drawing this really pushes the RAM. Also, London at the end to showcase that it covers underground rail (etc), although I *really* had to compress it due to the sheer complexity

The 'Map Manager' demo is now live on my site, but you'll have to put in a little work to get it working - reason being is respect to rate limits as the provider (overpass) is opensource (OSM). Download features are actually there because they work for exporting map files.

I have created this OS, based on Alpine Linux, & it is stable enough to use (i made the file manager, etc) It's all in C, and as you can tell on file view, the terminal/shell runs simultaneously with the windows on a grid, theyre not box characters they're vectors on the grid

Grid Lines, drawn correctly in place based on the location on Earth (independent of map files). Also, GPS, the location here is spoofed as I don't live here (obviously), but the code is there for it to be live with one simple change. Location: Detroit, MI

I have finally put it back together & ported the applications over. I've also finally wired up the LEDs, although I probably need to change the supply as just standard 3v is blinding to look at - will have it indicate read/write operations.
