I love how my culture reveres female friendship. A “maseve” is a woman’s lifelong best friend. People did parties (swiseveseve) which were basically platonic marriages between women. 1. You propose to a woman you want as your maseve. 2. You plan a party where your family goes to hers with gifts. 3. Her family comes to your family with gifts and another party ensues.
