Only one bridge is left to connect to the coastal city of #Tyre after #Israel bombed seven bridges crossing the Litani, practically isolating #Lebanon’s south. If that bridge gets struck too, it would create “a humanitarian disaster,” an official in Tyre told me. 15% of the city’s 60k residents remain despite Israel’s forced evac orders. Report coming soon PBS PBS News.

Israel has been targeting first responders in #Lebanon and now it has killed the director of a hospital in Baalbek who had refused to shut down despite evacuation orders. #Hezbollah claimed responsibility for four attacks on Israeli forces inside Lebanese territory today, each responding to a specific Israeli ceasefire violation. As Wafiq Safa told us @newshour, the group won’t accept a one-sided ceasefire this time around:

This is what villages on #Lebanon’s border with Israel look like - destroyed, deserted, off limits to civilians. Today we drove 20km along the UN blue line from Kfar Kila to Meiss al-Jabal and back. Not a soul on the streets except for UNIFIL patrols, a few paramedics and firefighters.

The people of Alma al-Shaab, a Christian village on Lebanon’s border with Israel, say there were no Hezbollah fighters in their village. Israel still targeted Alma, killing 70-year-old Sami Ghafary and forcing them out. Our latest PBS News, filmed by Adrian Hartrick

Horrible news. Three colleagues killed as Israel targets journalists in Hasbayaa, in a compound used by Lebanese & international press, who sought safety in numbers as they reported on the war in southern #Lebanon. There was no warning. Video ⁦⁦Imran Khan⁩ who was there.

“We have a few standing houses, I guess they want to destroy them before they leave,” the village chief of Yaroun told me. In this report PBS PBS News, we document how the IDF has demolished and reportedly booby trapped homes in Lebanese border villages it still occupies. With analysis Ahmad Baydoun. Filmed by Hussain Zeaitar.

We drove up to the so-called “Forward Defense Line,” a de-facto new security border Israel has imposed in southern Lebanon. From the last checkpoint of the Lebanese army, we could hear explosions as the IDF demolished homes south of that line, despite a ceasefire. Our full report PBS News, filmed Adrian Hartrick:

Countries around the world have been hit by extreme weather. In #Iraq, people struggle to cope with broiling temperatures, widespread power cuts and the worst drought ever recorded. My segment for PBS PBS News from Baghdad begins at 2:00.
