South Dakota State University SDSU Football long snapper carson strohbeen made the trip to Eau Claire WI to chase perfection! Carson has been snapping well but wanted to see what he could improve on going into the competition for the starting job this season. There’s always something to improve on! Carson and I noticed that he was being a little over aggressive with his movement which was jamming him up. Thinking about slowing down the start of his snap and building speed recall helps snappers get to better positions and snap a faster ball due to the build and transfer of energy. This can feel foreign because it seems that every source out there tells snappers to disregard the rules of movement and simply snap as hard as possible. Once we locked that in we saw a huge difference in Carson’s ability to snap faster as well as more consistently!
